Objectives: This is a general overview of what the teacher will teach and what the student is expected to master.
Reading Literature
RL 6.1 - Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

Grading: A=90-100 B=80-89 C=70-79 D=65-69 F=below 65 I=incomplete
Grading follows the policies of Biloxi Public Schools. A mid-term progress report and a report card following the end of each term are issued.
Tests: A minimum of three tests, five activities, and one writing assignment will be given during the term. The writing assignment will count as two activity grades. In order to prepare students for the upcoming PARCC assessment, all tests will be timed.
Grades are weighted as follows: Major tests 55%, Activities 35% and CTA 10%.
Retesting: Students may retest on all major tests. Students must have all classwork completed in order to reteach/retest. If a student fails a test or wishes to retest, he/she must come in for reteaching. Reteaching/Retesting will be offered Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:10 -
3:55. Due to the length of ELA tests, the student may be required to attend an additional afternoon to complete testing.
Tutoring: Afterschool tutoring is available for all BJHS students on Tuesday and Thursday from
3:10 - 3:55 for those students who need additional reinforcement. In order to attend tutoring, the student must have the appropriate form signed by the parent. The student can request a form from his/her teacher.
Homework/Assignments/Projects: Homework is to be written in the planner daily by the student. Students can expect to read a minimum of 15 minutes every night and possibly have additional homework related to the lesson of the day. Any assigned projects will be expected on the due date. Late work will result in loss of 10 points per day, and projects/assignments not turned in will result in a score of 0. Makeup work should be completed and turned in within 10 school days. Parents will be notified of consistent violations.
Course Requirements: Master all objectives with a 65% or higher.
