Greyhound Care – Dental Info Post Surgery

ATTITUDE: Your dog may be lethargic, depressed, and nauseous for 24 hours. If it
lasts for more than 24, hours please call.
DIET: Offer your dog small amounts of water at a time and about 1/2 normal amount of
food tonight. Normal diet tomorrow. If any vomiting occurs, pull the food and water and
offer tomorrow. You can give hamburger and rice or chicken and rice to stimulate the
appetite and use it as a bland diet for animals with vomiting. IF EXTRACTIONS WERE
NEEDED, PLEASE REFER TO THOSE NOTES FOR FEEDING.
ANTIBIOTICS: Please continue as previously directed until gone starting tonight.
ACTIVITY: Normal activity can be resumed within 24-48 hours.
HOME CARE: It is important to start caring for the teeth shortly after the dental was
performed in order to keep the teeth clean, the breath fresh, and the body healthy.
