John C. Mowery, Jr., 69, of Bay Port, died Thursday evening, June 10, 2004, at Bay Regional Medical
Center in Bay City following a brief illness. He was born October 25, 1934 in Atlanta, son of the late
John C. and Clara Mae (Cummins) Mowery. He was united in marriage to Pamela Lou Bryant on June
21, 1999 in Bay Port. John had been employed for the Romeo Community Schools as a teacher,
guidance counselor and coach for 28 years before retiring in the 1980s. They moved to Bay Port eight
years ago. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd AirBorne Division. Surviving besides his wife, Pamela,
are two daughters, Judith Ann Woodall, of Rochester and Joy Lynn Mowery, of St. Clair Shores; two
step-sons, Lewis Thick, of Pigeon, and William Thick, of Bay City; two grandchildren, Aaron and
Stephanie; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ole Pynnonen, of Basalt, Colorado; several nieces
and nephews; and his beloved dog, Matilou. He was preceded in death by two sisters, June Smith, and
Maybelle Bridges. According to his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A memorial
service will take place at a later date. Memorials can be given to the American Lung Association or
Duck's Unlimited. Arrangements are being handled by the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
