SERIAL NO: All 910497, 911497, 912497, 910499, 911499, 912499. SUMMARY: In the event of a lift cylinder hose break or leak, the transparent guard will prevent operator from hose whip or direct oil spray. In the event of an oil leak or hose break at the valve, the guard will prevent direction of spray to the operator. (Valve Spacer 312580 (4), .38-16 X 4.25 Hex Screws (4) 400731, Left Guard 716458 and Right Guard 716459), (800174 Instructions, Shield Workhead Controls). ACTION: Install transparent workhead lift cylinder guards by drilling and tapping frame tubes and installing guards with provided screws and washers. Remove valve mounting screws. Install spacers, guards and mounting screws onto each valve mount. COMPLETION: Transparent guards installed and screws torqued. Clean guard with soapy water/window cleaner and dry. Left and right valve guards mounted. TOOLS REQUIRED: Electric drill. #7 tap drill. 1/4-20 tap. 3/8” socket wrench, 1/2” socket and open end wrench. Using the 314192 transparent guard as a template, position the guard against the machine frame as shown (Figures 1 & 2) and mark the hole locations to be drilled. NOTE: it may be necessary to adjust the position of hydraulic and/or air hoses to position the guard against the frame. 2. Center punch the hole locations and drill through the outer wall with a #7 tap drill (12 places, each side). Tap the holes using a ¼”-20 tap. 3. Install the transparent guard with the provided hex flange screws (491553) and fender washers (491535). Torque the screws to 6-9 ft/lbs being careful not to bind or buckle the guard during assembly. NOTE: These transparent guards need to be kept clean. Wash daily with soapy water or window cleaner and dry with a soft cloth. Replace guard if stained, scratched or broken. NOTE: Ensure that the workhead lift cylinders are oriented so that the cylinder ports are facing towards the outside of the machine, away from the operators station. RRP SB 273 Preparing valve for valve guard installation: 1. Locate valves (see Figure 3) 2. Rotate connector, this will provide clearance for guard and spacer mounting. 3. Remove and discard existing 3/8-16 mounting screws (see Figure 4), save 3/8” nuts for mounting. Position guard onto valve mounting plate (see Figure 5 & 6). Mount valve onto screws followed by nuts, tighten nuts. Repeat on opposite side. Remove existing valve mounting bolts (item 6). Inspect the .38-16 screw threads for damage or stripped conditions at each location. Replace o-rings on underside of valves (item 4, item 5). Install .38-16 x 1.5 socket screws (item 6), .38 high collar lock washers (item 7) and tighten to 25 ft/lbs each valve. 3. Remove each existing hex screw (item X), add flat washers (item 12) and reinstall leaving the screws loosely to allow for workhead controls shield installation. 4. Place workhead controls shield (item 1) onto existing manifold mounting hex screws (item X) and tighten. 5.
