Qualification Course II (Optional) Modified course by Bill Campbell based on “Police Rifles” by Richard Fairburn) Protocol: This is a standard daylight patrol rifle qualification course. You will fire 40 rounds at an IALEFI Q target from 150 to 10 yards. Qualification requires you have 40 hits on the target. It is your responsibility to manage your ammunition at all times. If you receive a malfunction, use immediate action to clear the malfunction and continue the stage. If you run out of time due to properly applying immediate action, you will be given an alibi string to fore the remaining rounds. You may use the sling support whenever it is practical to do so. On all drills the command will be a single whistle blast. The command to cease fire will be a double whistle blast. 150 yard line - Prone position 3 rds center mass in 1 minute 100 yard line - Prone position 5 rds center mass in 1 minute 75 yard line - Prone position 3 rds center mass in 25 seconds Prone position 3 rd, RELOAD, 2 rds center mass in 40 seconds 3 5 3 3 Make the weapon completely safe, lock back, look, and touch. This only applies if all 40 rounds were hits. Total Maximum score 48 points. XII. Adverse Light Course (Optional) The purpose of this course is to qualify with the patrol rifle in the conditions most likely to occur in the real world. Up to 80% of the law enforcement involved shootings occur during the hours of darkness. Light conditions vary with dominate light illuminating the threat, backlighting the threat, and the need to be able for you to illuminate the threat. Dedicated weapon mounted lights and lasers are an asset, and their use encouraged to increase your chances of winning on the street. Absent a dedicated weapon mounted light you must utilize what you have… your flashlight. The course of fire is as follows: 25 yard line Front Lit target – one round 4 seconds (repeat 4 times) 5 rds Back Lit target – one round 6 seconds (repeat 4 times) 5 rds Flashlight technique – 2 rounds each command (repeat 4 times) 10 rds 15 yard line Front lit target – one round in 3 seconds (repeat 4 times) 5 rds Back lit target – one round in 4 seconds (repeat 4 times) 5 rds Flashlight technique – 2 rounds each command (repeat 4 times) 10 rds Total 40 rds Every shot must be on target to qualify. XIII. Long Gun Tactical Course: Long gun to be used with rifles/shotguns/and duty handguns. Course begins with narrative – You are going on a search and arrest warrant at a residence. There are multiple suspects known to possess firearms with non-combatant friends and family in the area. There are several agencies involved and you are several cars back in this rural area raid. Load your weapons appropriately. Course begins at 60 yards where your vehicle is parked. You will draw one of 4 numbers. Number 1 – You exit the vehicle and at the 50 yard line take a shooting position and engage two head size metal targets with non-combatants in the area. After scoring a hit on each you move to the building/wall and engage all shoot targets. Number 2 – You exit the vehicle and proceed to the 35 yard line, take a shooting position and engage two head size metal targets with non combatants in the area. After scoring a hit on each target you move the building/wall and engage all shoot targets. Number 3 – You exit the vehicle and proceed to the 18 yard line and engage the two head size metal targets with non-combatants in the area. After scoring hits on each you move to the building/wall and engage all shoot targets. Number 4 – You exit the vehicle and proceed to the building/wall where you 10 yards from head size targets, engage them, and enter engaging all shoot targets. If you run out of ammo with your long gun you must either reload or proceed using your duty handgun. You must engage all shoot targets successfully, and can not strike any non-combatants. There is no time limit but you will be timed and compared to other shooters.
