Men`s Soccer Season Highlights

The Men’s soccer team closed out the season with 11 shutouts and the lowest goals
against in the State with just 17.They placed 2nd in the Coast Conference North Division.
Their season ended in dramatic fashion losing to DeAnza College (Number 8th in the
Nation, 2nd in the State, 1st in the NorCal) in a penalty shoot out after an overtime tie 1-1
in the Sweet 16 of The California Community College play offs.
Some standout performances came from Sophomore Goal Keeper Kevin Gonzalez who
was ranked 2nd in the State. Kevin who was voted onto the 1st team all-conference team
had an amazing 5 shutouts and only 1 goal against in the last 6 games of the season.
Sophomore Alejandro Martinez-Garcia was voted Midfielder of the year in the Coast
Conference North Division and 1st team all-conference, He was instrumental in our
attack. Sophomore Kian Ahmadi was voted onto the NSCAA Western Regional team and
1st team all-conference as a center back. Kian was a 2 year starter and co-captain of the
2013 team.
Unfortunately CCSF did not reach their ultimate goal of playing in the State
Championship final as they did in 2012 versus Mt Sac College. They were plagued with
an unusual amount of injuries during the season. No less then 6 starters had season
ending injuries.
