Facility Rental and Usage
We have a beautiful setting in Clarkston, Michigan representing the dedication and investment of
the congregation. We encourage the widest use of our facilities in furthering the programs of the
church serving our members and serving the community.
The primary purpose of our building is to provide facilities for the program and activities of the
church, its members, and its committees and affiliated organizations. We seek also to make the
facilities available to others in our community as a place for devotion and for community
enrichment programs, without, however, assuming responsibility for the opinions or activities of
any organization which is not officially connected with the church.
Nothing in this policy shall be construed to deny the First Congregational Church of Clarkston
the right to refuse or cancel use of any space to any group.
Requesting a Date and Securing Your Event:
Security Deposit:
A refundable security deposit equal to $200 dollars or 50% of the fee, whichever is less, must
accompany the rental application.
Date will be held for two (2) business days (currently Monday through Thursday) without a
deposit and signed contract. At the conclusion of this time any date not confirmed will be
released or opened for other uses.
Security Deposits are refundable in two weeks after the conclusion of the event if:
i) no damages occur, ii) facilities are left in good condition, and iii) the event concluded on
time. Appropriate funds will be withheld if additional cleaning or repair is necessary due to
rental usage. Written documentation to the renter will be provided in such case. Damages,
cleaning or replacement costs that exceed the deposit shall be the responsibility of the renter.
Payments:
Full payment is due two (2) business days prior to event.
Cancellation:
Full refund will be provided if event is cancelled fifteen (15) calendar days prior to event.
Our Policies and Guidelines:
We ask that the facilities be left in as clean and good or better condition than before use. If you
have moved equipment or furniture please return it to its original location. Renters should be
particularly cautious with food and beverages to avoid spills on the carpeted areas. Decorations
or other materials may be placed on walls and windows only with materials that do not damage
or mark such surfaces, and all decorations and attaching material are to be removed at the
conclusion of the event.

If requested or if church facilities are leased or rented over an extended period of time to an
individual, group, or institution, that individual, group, or institution shall be required to carry its
own liability insurance and the First Congregational Church of North Oakland named as an
additional insured in such policies. If so required, a copy of the insurance must accompany this
agreement.
a) In case of conflicting requests for church use, the following priorities apply: Regularly scheduled
church functions and programs, Members, Outside Rentals.
b) Access will not be provided without a security deposit and approved Facility Usage Contract. If
special arrangements are required for access, a nominal fee may be applied.
c) Use of church property (interior and exterior) is restricted to the time-frame, and proposed use
specified in this Agreement.
d) Unless otherwise agreed upon all events must end by 11:00 P.M.
e) Unless otherwise agreed upon in this contract all FCC equipment should be used only for its
intended purpose and with specific authorization.
f) Smoking is not permitted.
g) No alcoholic beverages shall be served or available during the rental period.
h) Outside groups using the building must make it clear that the church does not sponsor them nor
does it necessarily endorse their views.
i) No animals, except for service animals, are permitted in the building unless authorized.
j) Kitchen Facilities must be arranged through the designate.
k) Anyone Authorized to use the facilities for a group involving children or youth will insure that
adequate adult supervision, at a ratio of one adult per 10 children or as outlined by state law, is
available from the time the group begins to assemble until the last young person involved has left
the premises. If renters are using a portion of the facilities for childcare, no person under the age
of 18 years may be solely providing that childcare.
Fee Schedule:
We strive to provide these facilities for our members and the benefit of the community at
minimal or no cost. Customarily usage fees are waived for our ministries, and for Members of
the First Congregational Church for the following usage of immediate family members:
weddings and ceremonies of unions, and memorials. In such circumstances, donations are
encouraged. Rental fees also may be waived or reduced by the Council or Board of Trustees, or
their designate.

$50.00 Total for the first 2 hours, $20.00 each additional hour.

$35.00 Total for the first 2 hours $15.00 each additional hour.
Note: A minimum two hour charge applies

In consideration for the use of the First Congregational Church facility, the person or
organization signing below agrees that it has received and read the First Congregational Church
Facility Usage Agreement, agrees and will abide by them, and that: i) It will pay for all damages
to any property at First Congregational Church building or grounds resulting directly or
indirectly from the conduct of any member, officer, employee, agent or guest of the renter or its
invitees, ii)It will hold harmless and indemnify First Congregational Church from and against
any and all liability which may be imposed upon it, for any injury to persons or property caused
by the named person or organization or any other person in connection with the meeting or
event, iii) First Congregational Church is not responsible for the loss or theft of any personal or
rented item belonging to or used by the caterer, lessee, and or guests of the lessee.
