CALL FOR PROPOSAL
CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR DEVELOPING SCRIPTS FOR FOUR THEATRE PLAYS
Scope of Consultancy Assignment:
To develop four scripts for theatre play for general community in Saraiki language (with English
translation) on various harmful aspects of Child Marriages, keeping in mind the context of Southern
Punjab.
Level of Effort: 15 days.
Requested Documents:
The proposal should consist of the following documents:
 Cover letter (1 page)
 Updated profile of the individual Consultant or Firm (Maximum 3 pages)
 Proposal describing mechanics of execution of assignment, work plan and proposed budget.
(covering all expenses) (Maximum 3 pages)

Expected date of initiation of Consultancy: 18th April, 2014
Payment Schedule:
40% advance payment will be made on signing of contract for the proposed assignment as first
instalment. 30% will be paid on the receipt of 1st draft of deliverables while remaining 30% payment
will be made upon satisfactory submission of finalized deliverables approved by Rahnuma-FPAP. All
payments will be made through Cross-Cheque. Tax will be deducted as per laws of Government of
Pakistan.

Introduction:
Child marriage is one of the most wide-spread human rights violations worldwide and girls are being
affected more as compared to boys. More than 60 million girls around the world were married under
the age of 18 last year. Pakistan shares a major portion in the early marriage as 42 percent of girls
married under the age of 18 years across the globe were from Pakistan. The practice of child girl’s
marriage is more common in the rural areas as compared to the urban areas. Poorly enforced laws on
minimum marriage age and incompetent mechanism for maintaining records of birth registration
makes it difficult to determine the correct age of girls at the time of marriage. Factors such as poverty,
protection of girls, family honour and the provision of stability during unstable social periods are
significant factors in determining a girl's chance of becoming married at early age. Lack of information
and poor implementation of laws also plays major roles in exacerbating the situation of child
marriages. Communities must be guided about the consequences of child marriages so that a
collective voice can be raised to make appropriate reforms in child protection laws and to ensure
proper enforcement of laws.
Project Objective:
The project’s goal is to delay and ultimately prevent child marriages in the 3 districts of the Southern
Punjab.
Purpose of the Assignment:
The aim of the assignment is to develop four scripts for theatre plays on the harmful aspects of Child
Marriage in the local context of South Punjab. The scripts should be developed on following areas;




Health repercussions of Child Marriages
Addressing psychological effects of Child Marriages
Complications during Child Birth.
Impact and consequences of high infant rate and maternal mortality rate
Consultant’s Responsibilities:
Consultant will be responsible for producing four comprehensive, clearly understandable, and
audience-engaging scripts in Saraiki. Each play is expected to be of about 10 minutes duration
highlighting the above mentioned themes with their link with Child Marriages in the context of South
Punjab. Consultant will be producing the English version of finalized Saraiki script.

Essentials of the Consultant:
 Significant experience in developing scripts of theatre playa on social issues.
 Mastering Sariaki language for ensuring that script is in a language used by Sothern Punjab natives
 Familiarity with social issues like child marriages, gender-based violence and sexual and
reproductive health issues and rights etc.
 Able to correctly translate the script in Saraiki to English language
