to the UNFPA for birth control, life-saving obstetric care, and basic reproductive

4. Abortion Notification
The House rejected a Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) amendment to send the Child Interstate
Abortion Notification Act (H.R. 748) back to the committee for further review.
CIANA imposes a complex patchwork of parental involvement laws on women and
doctors and also prosecutes responsible adults – such as grandparents, siblings, or
aunts and uncles – who help young women whose circumstances prevent them from
confiding in their parents. CIANA does nothing to help prevent unintended
pregnancies, but it could further isolate young people who face crisis pregnancies.
This vote occurred on April 27, 2005.
