Opportunity to job shadow people in various roles from 0700 to 1100 hours.
Service Recognition Event
1300-1500 hours in Environmental Exposure Unit (formerly Old Cafeteria), Connell 3.
An informal reception for staff members who have met a service milestone within the
2012 calendar year to present service pins. There are 618 recipients this year.
Open Houses and Tours
The following areas are opening their doors:
Central Processing Services – Kidd 0. Tours at 1000 & 1400 hours; please enter at
Pickup Kidd 0.
Clinical Engineering – 1300 – 1500 hours. Visit the Victory 0 ‘biomed shop’ and the
renal dialysis ‘tech room’ on Burr 3 to learn about the work of clinical engineers.
Human Mobility Research Centre, Syl & Molly Apps Wing, Level 1. Tours and
demonstrations at 1100 & 1300 hours.
Imaging Services, Kidd 1 – Interactive presentation and demonstrations at 1030 &
1430 hours in the Imaging Services Conference Room.
Museum of Health Care at Kingston – Drop in to visit the galleries or attend a 45
minute tour at 1200 hours. The tour will be led by Curator Pamela Peacock and will
allow an opportunity to explore important historic healthcare innovations.
Pharmacy Services, Kidd 0 – Drop in for tours at 0830, 1000, 1130, 1330 & 1430
hours.
University Hospitals Kingston Foundation – Drop by the office on Empire 2 (door 3263) between 1000 and 1200 hours to learn about those who work in fundraising for our
hospital and have a coffee and goodies.

People Working Together: Presentations of Teamwork at Its
Best
1150 to 1600 hours in Environmental Exposure Unit, Connell 3.
1150-1200 hours. Welcome address. Eleanor Rivoire.
1200 - 1220 hours: Patient- and Family-Centred Care. Angela Morin, Patient
Experience Advisor and Daryl Bell, Lead for Patient- and Family-Centred Care will
discuss how we are partnering with patients and families across the organization along
with “what is PFCC” and “how are we working with patients to improve their experience
at KGH”.
1230 - 1320 hours: Peak Performing Teams: Lessons from the Edge. Dr. Dave
Williams, President & CEO Southlake Regional Health Centre, Physician, Canadian
Astronaut & Aquanaut.
1330-1350 hours: Day in the Life of a Care Navigator. Kathy Kittner, RN and Alyson
Lazier, RN, Medicine Program Care Navigators will follow a navigator as she works with
the interprofessional team to facilitate patient flow and ensure a safe, delay-free
discharge for the patient & family.
1400-1420 hours: Transplant Celebration: It Takes a Team. Rose Marie Doucette,
RN, Stem Cell Transplant Coordinator will present the experience of stem cell transplant
at KGH.
1430-1450 hours: Magic Carpet Ride. Alan Hughes, Project Coordinator, Joint
Planning Office will showcase teamwork involved in carpet removal from a patient care
unit.
1500-1550 hours: The Patient’s Journey. Bryan and Marijo Cuerrier, former KGH
patient and spouse speak to their experience with flesh eating disease.
1550-1600 hours. Closing Remarks. Dr. David Zelt.
KGH Auxiliary Staff Appreciation Tea
1300 to 1500 hours in Atrium, Kidd 0.
Annual staff appreciation tea hosted by the KGH Auxiliary.
Team Awards Presentation
1600 to 1700 hours in Environmental Exposure Unit, Connell 3.
The KGH team awards for Care, Knowledge & Leadership will be presented to the
winning teams.
