SHOW RULES California Junior Shorthorn Association – Spotlight on Quality Jackpot Show October 24-25, 2015 Amador Co. Fairgrounds – Plymouth, CA General Information/Rules: 1. All steer exhibitors must be 19 and under as of January 1, 2015 and Breeding Cattle exhibitors must be 21 and under as of January 1, 2015. These ages apply to those planning on gaining CJLA points from the Spotlight on Quality Jackpot Show. 2. Entry fees: Breeding Animals & Market Beef - $25 per head Payment made on PayPal. Checks to CJSA Mail entries to: CJSA 8454 Jantzen Road Modesto, CA 95357 4. Entries must be completed online by Friday October 10. Late entries will be accepted until Friday October 17, provided space permits. Late entries will be charged an additional fee of $15. 5. There will be NO REFUNDS on entries. 6. Management reserves the right to change anything that will better accommodate and/or improve the show. 7. Each exhibitor must show his/her own animal unless more than one animal is entered into the same class at the same time. 8. Bedding will be provided by the exhibitor Please use designated dumping areas only. Exhibitors are responsible for removing their own bedding to the designated dumping areas. Failure to remove bedding will result in cleaning fee. 9. Ethical treatment of all animals and ethical conduct from the exhibitor is expected at Spotlight on Quality 10. Any animal exhibiting signs of infectious or unsightly conditions will not be permitted to show as determined by a veterinarian and show management. 11. Any animal that is deemed a safety hazard by show management will be disqualified with no refund. 12. Generators are welcome – power may be limited. 14. ALL CJLA RULES APPLY as this is a Sanctioned Show 15. Payouts will depend on the success of the show. All expenses must be paid prior to payouts being decided or disbursed. The Spotlight on Quality Jackpot is self-sustaining and runs independently on entry fees and sponsorships alone. There are no outside funds supporting these events. SHOW RULES Heifer Show 1. All heifers must be registered in the name of the exhibitors – and the original Red or Green papers must be presented at check-in. Check in will take place Saturday. 2. Classes will be broken depending on age and number of entries. Show management reserves the right to make changes for the benefit of the show 3. Bred and Owned female show. All bred and owned females will show together, however a Purebred and Shorthorn Plus champion will be recognized separately. 4. Only Registered Shorthorn and Shorthorn Plus females will be allowed for entry into this show. Steer Show 1. Official Steer weigh-in will take place Saturday time will be determined and announced 2. The steer show management will break and post classes on the day of the show. Classes will be broken by weight. 3. There will be two breed divisions: Shorthorn and All Other Breeds/Colors Official breeds must be presented with registration papers. 4. PLEASE NOTE - All shorthorn steers will be required to have registration papers VERIFYING PARENTAGE AND PEDIGREE is required in order to show in the Shorthorn Steer Division. These registration papers must be official purebred steer registration papers from the respective national breed association. The registration papers must be in the name of the exhibitor. Showmanship 1. All exhibitors must show their own animal in showmanship. NO EXCEPTIONS.
