The meteorological department predicted the storm would sweep the coast at 140 km per hour where as, the weekend cyclone crossed Mahabalipuram, north of Tamilnadu coast on 31st October, 2012 with winds crossing at 70 km per hour. Despite this there was wide spread heavy destruction in Andhra Pradesh especially in the districts of East Godavari, West Godavari, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Krishna, Guntur, Vijayanagaram and Khammam due to unprecedented continuous downpour of rain ranging from 100 mm to 330 mm per day leading to breach off reservoirs, minor irrigation tanks resulting in breach of bunds of rivers, canals, all sort of water ways affecting the source of drinking water , infrastructure, causing extensive damage to food and commercial crops such as paddy, banana plantation, sugarcane, cotton, chillies, groundnuts etc. from 1st November, 2012 to 6th, November.
