The Rocky Mountain Sled Dog Club, Inc., Winter Park & Fraser Valley Chamber and Grand Park Present the 6th Annual Grand Park Dog Days of Winter Sled Dog Race February 14-15, 2015 – Minimum Purse $2,500 Sponsored by: The Rocky Mountain Sled Dog Club, the Winter Park & Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce and Grand Park ISDRA Sanctioned 4, and 6 Dog Sprint, 4 and 6 Dog Purebred Sprint, 3 Dog Juniors Class and 1 Dog and 2 Dog Skijor. Non-Sanctioned 3 Dog Skijor and 3-4 Dog Sportsman’s class. Location: Two miles north of downtown Winter Park, Co on Highway 40 at Grand Park by the Winter Park Recreation Center and Shell Gas and convenience store. Starting Order: Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 am, 6-dog class followed by 2-dog skijor after a short pause; 11:00am, 4-dog class followed by 1-dog skijor after a short pause; 3-dog skijor, 3-dog junior and 1-4 dog Sportsman classes to be determined. All starts 1-minute interval. (Start times are approximate depending on number of entries in each class) Drivers Meeting: 8:15 am at Race Site Skijor clinic: On Saturday at approximately at 1:30, near starting chute. Limited equipment will be available to borrow, or equipment can be rented or purchased at Mountain Dawg Outfitters, Hwy 40, Fraser, CO; ph. (970) 726-8451 Important information: ● No phone entries – Entries close at noon Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Entries received after this time will be placed at the end of the start order as they are received. Absolutely no entries will be accepted later than one half hour before the Saturday morning drivers meeting. ● Dog marking of all Sanctioned Classes will be at the finish line of each class on Saturday. ● Purebred numbers (American Kennel Club or Canadian Kennel Club) must be submitted with the entry form. Entries with out documentation will be drawn in the mixed breed class. ● 1 dog skijor will be run on the 4-mile trail, the 2 dog skijor will be run on the 6-mile trail, and the 3 dog skijor will be run on a modified 6-8-mile trail. ● Scheduling of the events will prevent a single driver from racing in the 1 dog skijor and 4 dog sled, or the 2 dog skijor and 6 dog sled classes. Check www.rmsdc.com for updates. Race Options and Information: ISDRA seeding will be used to determine starting order for Saturday in all sanctioned classes. NO WHIPS ALLOWED – A snow hook and regulation dog bag (ventilated) are mandatory in all sled classes. All race participants under age 18 will be required to wear an appropriate safety helmet. The RMSDC recommends that the helmet be DOT, ANSI, or Snellcertified. A Race Veterinarian will be on call. Please contact race officials for information if a need occurs. Race Officials may handle dogs at any time. Parking by class in designated areas is required by the Race Giving Organization. All teams must be in the staging area 2 minutes prior to the start in all classes. The Rocky Mountain Sled Dog Club, Inc. will not be held responsible for errors in seeding caused by the use of ISDRA’s Raceworks program. This program, it’s seeding and membership updates are controlled entirely by ISDRA and neither RMSDC, Inc. nor its Race Secretary have any control over its seeding and draw functions. The Purse money distribution will be based on the number of racers and entry fees per class as a percentage of the total purse amount. No entry fees will be refunded unless the race is canceled. I further attest that my dogs are in good health, have received all vaccinations required by state law, and are physically prepared for this event.
