Student Representative Council (SRC)
Vice-President of Dentistry
You represent all semesters of Phase 1 dental students, (and/or Phase 2 if necessary) in
IMU Bukit Jalil Campus, as far as academic and welfare matters are concerned.
General Job Description:
As the Vice President of Dentistry, it should be known to you that every semester within
the scope of Phase 1 in School of Dentistry is within your area of responsibility. More
precisely, you are responsible for both the academic and welfare concerns, besides
bridging the communication gap between students and the academia and administrative
staffs. You are also required to attend a number of meetings with the academic and
administrative staffs during the term. In the meetings, you voice out the concerns brought
up by the students and humbly work out the best solutions with the staffs, for your fellow
students. Below is the job scope, but not limited to:
1. DCAC - Dentistry Curriculum and Assessment Committee
a. In DCAC, VP of Dentistry will attend as students’ representative together
with other committee members and Deanery of Dentistry. DCAC meeting
involves discussion about academic issues of School of Dentistry such as
examination structures, academic calendars, study modules and etc. VP of
Dentistry is welcomed to voice out opinion and feedback on behalf of the
dental students in DCAC.
2. Academic Council (AC) Meeting
a. This meeting is held once a year with the attendance of Deans and/or
Representatives from Partner Dental schools (PDS) and the Deanery of
Dentistry, IMU. In this meeting, VP of Dentistry clarifies students’ doubts
revolving around the topic of transferring to PDS as well as
academic/social life of Phase 2 in PDS.

Academic Meeting:
a. Hold pre-AM discussions with your fellow batch reps in order to gather
major/school-wide concerns. This is also followed by immediate actions to
be taken by you so that concerns can be attended to, pre-AM, with the
academic and/or administrative staffs. You are responsible to revert to
your peers with the outcome/conclusions of both the AM as well as your
pre-AM problem-solving meetings with the staffs involved.
b. Raise school-wide concerns to biannual Academic Meeting. All potential
AM agendas pertaining to the School of Dentistry shall be discussed
amongst you and the Deanery of Dentistry, pre-AM.
4. Welfare Meeting (WM)
a. Hold pre-WM discussions with your fellow batch reps in order to gather
major/school-wide concerns. This is also followed by immediate actions to
be taken by you so that concerns can be attended to, pre-WM, with the
academic and/or administrative staffs. You are responsible to revert to
your peers with the outcome/conclusions of both the WM as well as your
pre-WM problem-solving meetings with the staffs involved.
b. Raise school-wide concerns to biannual Welfare Meeting. All potential
WM agendas pertaining to the School of Dentistry shall be discussed
amongst you and the Deanery of Dentistry, pre-WM.
5. SRC Website’s Seamless Transfer Project
a. Work alongside the other four vice-presidents in SRC in order to maintain
and manage the above project with up-to-date information.
b. You are to first conduct independent research upon the Partner
Universities within the scope of School of Dentistry, followed by
verification of information uploaded onto “src.imu.edu.my > Partner
Universities” with the International Office as well as the Dean of Health
Sciences.
c. You are to gather information from transferred Partner Dental School
students from IMU, regarding student’s experience and help to bridge
future Partner Dental School students to ease their transfer and provide
advice on how they should prepare in mentally, academically, physically
and etc.
6. Dental Science Laboratory (DSC) Meeting
a. VP of Dentistry will attend this meeting with DSC Committee monthly
when invited. In this meeting, the committee will discuss about the
condition of DSC and improvements that can be made with students and
IMU management.
7. Oral Health Committee (OHC)
a. VP of Dentistry acts as the student-consultant for Oral Health Committee,
led by a committee student-President. OHC organizes events such as Oral
Health Awareness Week, Dental Dinner, Dental Cup and etc. You are to
make sure the committee is running healthily in the right track. You
should also attend OHC meetings and discuss with the OHC President
about concerns raised.
8. Student-Staff Dental Committee Meeting
a. VP of Dentistry acts as the Co-Chairperson of this meeting. VP should
bring forth constructive feedback from the dental students towards any
implementation in the school, suggest and discuss ways to solve concerns
that are brought up. You should also be equipped with current knowledge
on who to direct questions and concerns to, amongst the academic and
administrative staffs.
9. Others
a. Being one of the five vice-presidents in SRC, you are authorized to assess
and print extra-curricular (ECA) certificates for IMU Clubs and Societies
as well as major events affiliated with the SRC.
b. VP of Dentistry also oversees Dental Orientations and the Orientation
Committees behind the events.
