Meeting called to order by Anne-Marie Wendel at 6:00 PM following a greet and eat.
Visitors:
Bill Dodd introduced himself. He is branch manager at Florida Central Credit Union and
is involved with Victory Church and the Citrus Center Kiwanis Club. He was informed about
Club Success by Jackie McGordon who asked him if he might want to serve on the board. He
is here tonight to learn more about CS. He has a son who has Autism Spectrum
Advisory Board Mission
Tim Jordan read the mission of the Clubhouse: The Advisory Board works to provide
oversight, support, and guidance to the Clubhouse in areas of financial, legal, legislative,
member support, and advocacy. Board members are part of one or more of these main areas
in their work on the board.
Approval of minutes of January 6, 2015:
MOTION was made by Tim Jordan, seconded, and unanimously
agreed that the minutes of January 6, 2015, be approved with the
inclusion of Ron Engel’s name in attendance.

Review Clubhouse Reports:
Fact Sheet: Luis reported that daily average attendance in January was 41; the highest attendance on
any day was 58. Active membership is 82, and a total of 655 persons are members of Club Success.
One more person gained active employment so there are five TEPs. Luis has been very busy talking
to people, both in person and on the phone setting up appointments. He is also sending letters to
employers. Outreach included 25 phone calls, 26 cards, and 12+ visits. Presentations were made at
CIT, SRT, CSU, and Florida Clubhouse Coalition. (It was noted that Luis is the new President of the
Coalition).
Committee Reports:
Advocacy: Gil Daigneau said a garden was put in an open area near the group homes on Bella Vista.
The garden now contains carrots, onions, strawberries, green beans, tomatoes, bell peppers, lettuce,
as well as butterfly plants. It has been a joint effort between the residents at the homes and Club
Success. Gil invited everyone to come see this garden located at 728 E. Bella Vista. Funding was
received from Florida Naturals, an anonymous donor, Magellan, and others. Anne-Marie suggested
putting pictures of the garden on our web site. Rylan said he needs more flyers to give to people that
he sees, both at work and elsewhere.
Financial: Luis said $651.54 was made for parking at the Pigfest on February 6, and this was only
for a few hours. On February 27 there will be a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser at the Clubhouse. There
will be both dining-in and carryout. Spring Training at Tigertown will begin on March 1 and
parking will be available for a donation; CS will share with the group home. Mary Jane pointed out
Peace River will have parking space there as well. She reported that in December CS was ahead of
budget as far as staff and operation, which is good.
Legislative: Mary Jane said that more funding is needed for CAT teams and PRC is trying to get one
in Highlands County. No increased funding for this has been done in 20 years. She cited areas
where funding is drastically needed. It is hoped that there will be continued funding for uninsured
and under-insured people ages 18 – 65. Mental Health First Aid training is being offered. The Polk
County School System has a grant to teach this so teachers will understand more about this illness.
Legal:
No report.
Board Membership:
Anne-Marie said David Hughes is now in ALF. More members are
needed and she is in touch with some people who may be interested. She invited Bill Dodd to join.

Old Business:
Ten-Year Anniversary Event – May 20, 2015, 4 – 7 PM. Politicians, community leaders
and many others will be invited. We want to influence as many as possible to know what
Club Success is all about. Luis passed a sheet around for members to sign up as to what jobs
they wanted to do such as invitations, publicity, food, decorations, custodial, functions of the
house (conducting tours etc.). Gill will do a butterfly release.
Virtual Tour: Anne-Marie said in the future, a virtual tour video will be available. Luis
said editing is in progress.
VI.
New Business:
Facebook Page: Although there is a website, there is no facebook page. Discussion ensued about
facebook advantages.
MOTION was made by Rylan Ciccarello, seconded, and unanimously
agreed to ask Peace River Center for approval to have a Facebook page.
Member Network:
Luis said he has for years tried to create a member network using
profiles of members, separate from PRC. It has been finally approved and an office will be created
upstairs.
VII. Adjournment: Anne-Marie adjourned the meeting at 6:59 PM.
