The Pleasure Trials

WOW! There is really no other way to start
this. The Pleasure Trials this year blew away
all expectations. In past years, the show has
averaged around 300 entries and we are usually
done, torn down and on the way home by dark.
Well, this year it was almost MIDNIGHT
when the last barrel horse crossed the finish
line, about 14 hours after the first horse entered
the ring. After going over the sheets, the
reason became obvious. We posted a little
over 515 entries for the day. So once again, I
repeat…WOW!
Our judge was the honorable Linda Wray, and
she and the DQP’s from the Horse Protection
Commission were wiped out by the end of the
day, but their tireless work and was much
appreciated by all. Chuck Pinyerd, Twila King
and Sally Dunn spent many hours in the show
office. Mona Pinyerd, bum foot and all, kept
the ribbons organized and the young folks from
Equestrian’s Unlimited worked the gates,
announcer’s booth and center ring with great
efficiency. All the hard work that went into
the show was well worth the effort, especially
when the exhibitors, many of whom were
amateur or youth, enjoyed the day so
immensely.
Big winners for the day included Kendra
Thompson and Genius Lucky Charm who
claimed 4 blues in the Trail Class, TP
Amateur, Youth Equitation and the JDRF
Charity Trail Pleasure/OEG No Canter; Watch
My Whoopi, a yearling filly owned by Wendy
Kaufman claimed 3 blues in the Open
Yearling, Ohio Pleasure Futurity Yearling, and
TWH Youth Yearling class; Genius Charged
to Push owned by Dr Sally Dunn claimed 3
blues in the Ohio Pleasure Futurity Plantation
Pleasure 3 and under NC, the Trail Pleasure 4
and under NC and the Trail Pleasure NC
Amateur and also Clear Favorite, owned by
Valerie Gaylord claimed 3 blues in the OEG
NC Amateur, OEG Youth NC, and the
TP Youth NC AOT O/T.
There were many others who claimed multiple
blues during the show and they can be found in
the next pages. They can also be found online
at www.mowhaonline.com. Thanks to all for
such a successful Pleasure Trials and as we set
our sites on the Fall Round Up, let’s plan on
ending our successful 2004 season with a
grand finale!
