Lung Foundation Australia / Ivan Cash Research Grant-in-Aid For Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Research 2016 Background The Ivan Cash Research Grant-in-Aid’s creation was made possible by a bequest from Mr Ivan Cash, who sadly died from his idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2008. It will be awarded annually to fund research specifically in IPF. Lung Foundation Australia invites applications for the Ivan Cash Research Grant-in-Aid valued at $5,000. This IPF Research Award is open to any individual health care professional or scientist, who will be required to collaborate with the Australian IPF Registry management committee to undertake and publish a specific focused analysis of part of the collected dataset of the Australian IPF Registry. The Australian IPF Registry management committee will provide support to the successful applicant to enable the completion of the required research. Depending on the scope of the proposed project and any access to additional funding, the nominated successful applicant will be asked to meet with representative/s of the Australian IPF Registry to discuss and determine whether there is a requirement for payment for access to Registry data in part or in full. In choosing a topic of research analysis, applicants are invited to consult with a member of the Australian IPF Registry management committee. The duration of the project is 1 year from the date of commencement, 2. The successful applicant will be required to submit a progress report six (6) months into the project and a final report at the conclusion of the project after 12 months from the date of commencement. Monies will be paid on the basis of 75% at the time of signing documentation and the balance on acceptance of the final report. 3. The nominated supervisor for the research is to be approved by the Australian IPF Registry Steering Committee. 4. If the Award is not taken up within twelve (12) calendar of months of being awarded, the monies will be forfeited. 5. Lung Foundation Australia is to be advised of any publications arising from this award. Any publication(s) arising from this research should acknowledge Lung Foundation Australia / Ivan Cash Grant-in-Aid for IPF Research as a source of support. Eligibility Applicants must be a financial member of Lung Foundation Australia (Health Professional Category) and a financial member / associate member of the Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand.
