the data acquisition of non-Gaussian noise in LIGO’s (Laser Interferometer
Gravitational-Wave Observatory) Thermal Noise Interferometer.
Summer, 2001; Research associate, employed by Dr. J. K. Krebs, Davidson College:
assembly, modification and implementation of testing and analysis procedures for
absorption and emission data on Cr3+, Ce3+, and Tm3+ sol-gel silica glasses.
Guest student of Dr. Uwe Happek, University of Georgia: silica glass sample preparation
and production techniques, including chemical analysis and testing of various processing
and curing methods.
2000-2001: Work-study, Davidson College Department of Physics. Grader and ad-hoc
tutor. Additional services rendered in the design and construction of a thin-film dipcoating machine; organizing inventory and repair equipment in Electronics department.
