If I am a garden centre retailing compost in bags less than 50kg is there a requirement for my facility to be registered? There is no requirement to register this premises because it is retailing bags under 50kg. Yes, registration is required because the premises is retailing bags that weigh over 50kg. If I am a tillage farmer or grow vegetables commercially and farmed animal do not have access to these premises, what requirement do I have to comply with? The tillage farmer and commercial vegetable grower are OF/SI end users and do not require registration under the animal by-products legislation if no farmed animals are kept at the holding. However, the commercial vegetable grower may have further responsibilities as a food business operator and should contact the Horticulture and Plant Health Section in DAFM at Backweston, Co. Kildare.
