Bishop Museum Ethnology Database
An online exhibit of photographs and descriptions of 400 cultural objects from the
Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum's ethnology collection of over 70,000 objects
from the Pacific region. The exhibit includes nine categories: surfboards, hula
drums, makaloa mats, feather leis, wooden bowls, kapa, quilts, pounders, and
featherwork.
Indian Peoples of the Northern Great Plains - Online Image Database
Digitized photographs and sketches of Plains Indian cultures from the library
collections of the Montana State Universities, the Museum of the Rockies, and
Little Big Horn College. The database can be searched by subject,
artist/photographer, tribe, date, or location.
Anthropology Collection Database
The research collection of the Department of Anthropology at the California
Academy of Sciences contains approximately 17,000 objects from the indigenous
cultures of western North America (exclusive of Mexico), the Pacific Rim
(including all Pacific islands and East Asia), the U.S. Southwest, East Africa, the
Middle East, Europe, and Central and South America. There are over 8,000 digital
images. The database is searchable by object category, object name, materials,
maker's name, culture, global region, and/or location.
