Ingham County Shooting Sports Committee Meeting December 8, 2009 Fairgrounds Attendance: Leslie Zenker, Bill O’Connor, Tim Getter, Debi Pinkel, Cris Bean, GK Sweet, Paul Petersen, Josh Zenker, Andrew Traciak, Clayton Peck and Jonathan Pinkel. Committee Reports: Treasurer’s report – no activity since the last meeting. Re-enrollment has been turned in to the Extension office the shooting sports project fee will be processed and one check written to the committee. Secretary’s report – correction - under proposed fair dates Capital City Rifle Club (CCRC) not CARC Next Meeting Scheduled: A meeting is scheduled for March 23, 2010 at the Hilliard building at 7:00 p.m. Superintendents – Fair book revisions Andrew Traciak reported changes for Division J shooting sports 1. Change shooting sports to match correct page in contents. 2. Change phone number for Bruce Sweet 3. Add “all guns must remain in a case until instructed by a range officer to remove them (BB & pellet included). 4. Change all junior class titles to beginner 5. Change all intermediate class titles to junior 6. Various punctuation changes 7. Change all wording where it has officials to officers 8. Delete Number 3 Note: Contact the 4H Extension office for permission slips, record keeping and applicable project fee. Ginger Kenney-Sweet will give changes to Marilyn Brumbaugh. Tim Getter reported changes for Archery all consistent with state rules and delete number 3. 4-H Age is January 1, 2010. Delete Number 11 on 3-D Archery. Class 8648 changed wording to be sighted. Tim Getter will re-type and submit to Marilyn Brumbaugh by Email. Discussed OPEN class Bows and Back Releases for County shoot. Discussion on eliminating premium amounts from fair book but fair board is looking at sponsors for premiums. New fair manager Barb Hensinger started this week. Ginger Kenney-Sweet will E-mail bio to committee. Need copies of State Rules available at check in for county shoots. Award Standardization Changes to Participation packets was tabled to the next meeting to give everyone a chance to read through all the information and for Bruce and Lisa Sweet to be able to attend. Cris Bean researched high and low scores for last year. Ginger Kenney-Sweet will scan and send by E-mail to committee members. Annual Calendar – Proposed Fair Dates Tuesday, July 13th BB & Air Rifle – Fairgrounds Tim is checking with fair office for confirmation. Plan B Wednesday July 21st Thursday, July 15th Trap and Skeet Shotgun at Onondaga. Need a member to get keys and controls for shoot. Saturday, July 17th 3D – Chippewa Monday July 19th Muzzle & .22 – Capital City Rifle Club (CCRC) – Bill will confirm Tuesday, July 20th Target Archery – Fairgrounds (grandstands) confirmed We need caution tape to help with crowd control entrance and exit. Tuesday, August 3rd Awards night Shirley Clark Pavilion Ginger will confirm reservation Deer & Turkey Spectacular Need more people for archery – Put a notice in cloverleaf Deb will write article to get to Ginger. Ginger will also forward the deer spectacular and Kettunen Center notice to all shooting sports project leaders and community leaders. Hosting Hunters Ed in Spring Tim Getter will keep us posted on dates to be set in March or April. Hosting CPR/First Aid training Have had no response from contact yet if Tim Getter does not hear back, Debi Pinkel will try her contact to schedule something. Junior Program NFAA – Tim contacted them and they are sending a packet on Jr Bowhunter program for review. JOOAD – is measured in meters and membership is required.
