NCPA Student Chapter Poster Presentation 2013 NCPA Annual Convention BACKGROUND NCPA is pleased to offer the 2nd Annual NCPA Student Chapter Poster Presentation at the NCPA Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA on Sunday, October 13, 2013! This poster presentation session is an opportunity for student chapters to showcase projects they have completed from October 2012 – October 2013 that show their commitment to the continued growth and prosperity of community pharmacy through their NCPA Student Chapter. The goals of the Student Poster Presentation are to: Provide NCPA Student Chapters with an opportunity to showcase their work Create a medium of exchanging for novel project ideas between NCPA Student Chapters Inspire student chapters to create new and innovative ideas to promote community pharmacy and NCPA in their school/college of pharmacy and community POSTER PRESENTATION TOPICS Topics of poster presentations may fall under the following categories: 1. Neighborhood Community Service How does your NCPA Chapter give back to your community? Share your community services projects that have an impact in your community. 2. Creating New Members in your NCPA Student Chapter How does your NCPA Chapter encourage membership and participation in NCPA on the local, state, and national level? Share how you retain and recruit new members. 3. Promoting Independent Pharmacy How does your chapter stimulate interest in independent pharmacy ownership? What guest speakers and/or special projects or events do you offer that promote community pharmacy and pharmacy ownership? 4. Advocating Legislative Action How does your chapter advocate in legislative activities on the state and/or national level? Detail your Legislative Advocacy Challenge submission. 5. Other Do you have a good fundraising idea that you would like to share with other NCPA Student Chapters? You may want to share your Health and Wellness Challenge Submission. Feel free to include one topic of choice in your poster! GUIDELINES Participants must submit an application by Friday, September 20, 2013. All participants in the poster session are required to register for the NCPA Annual Convention in Orlando, FL. Participants are responsible for all expenses to the NCPA Annual Meeting including registration, travel, and accommodations. Only one poster will be accepted per active NCPA Student Chapter. Up to 4 students may present one poster from each active NCPA Student Chapter. Each poster may include a minimum of one category or maximum of 4 categories listed above in the poster presentation topics. Poster set up will take place from 8am – 11am on Sunday, October 13. Participants will be provided with information on how to access the Exhibit Hall to set up your poster closer to the Convention date. Posters will be presented on Sunday, October 13 from 1:30 – 6:00 pm in the Exhibit Hall. (Participants do not need to stand by poster at all times, but must set up and tear down at designated times listed above) Posters should be no larger than 4ftx 8ft. Include Title, Author Names, and School in the long panel at the top of poster. 2 TIPS ON CREATING POSTER: Keep it simple, but sufficient. Poster should be easy to follow. Generally, it is read sequentially from left to right, and top to bottom (see Figure 1). Figure 1: Conventional layouts for a poster (from: C. W. Use graphics to tell your story and use the white spaces to create good visual balance between the text and figures (See Figure 2). Text should be readable from at least 3 ft away.
