Monday---Unit 17 Lesson 3: Ending consonant ld, lp, lk, lt

In this lesson, students will learn 4 more ending blends: -ld, -lk, -lp, -lt.

These 4 ending blends start with the letter l. Teacher will display –ld and ask students to say it with me: “dash, l, d, stir /ld/.” Class will skywrite the blend

–ld 3 times.

Teacher will place –ld words (worksheet 17-37) under the document camera and students will practice finger spelling words and teacher will tap and sweep under letters in words and students will give sounds to read words also.

Teacher will place sentences containing –ld words (worksheet 17-39) under the document camera and students will practice reading sentences a couple of times using finger spelling for phonetic words and arm tapping for sight words if needed.

Teacher will display –lk and ask students to say it with me: “dash, l, k, stir,

/lk/.” Class will skywrite the blend –lk 3 times.

Teacher will tell students that this ending blend is heard in the word: milk.

Teacher will write the word milk on the board and students will practice finger spelling the word and teacher will tap and sweep under letters in the word and students will give sounds to read the word. Teacher will provide the following sentence to provide meaning: I had a glass of milk.

Teacher will place –lk words (worksheet 17-41) under the document camera and students will practice finger spelling words and teacher will tap and sweep under letters in words and students will give sounds to read words also.

Teacher will place sentences containing –lk words (worksheet 17-43) under the document camera and students will practice reading sentences a couple of times using finger spelling for phonetic words and arm tapping for sight words if needed.

Teacher will display –lp and ask students to say it with me: “dash, l,p,stir,

Teacher will place sentences containing –lt words (worksheet 17-51) under the document camera and students will practice reading sentences a couple of times using finger spelling for phonetic words and arm tapping for sight words if needed.

Teacher will also place the story, “A Duck’s Lunch” under the document camera and students will practice reading and discussing the story a couple of times, using finger spelling for phonetic words and arm tapping for sight words. This story will also be sent home for reading homework.

Students will write the words on worksheets 17-37, 17-41, 17-45, and 17-49 on notebook paper and practice reading for homework this evening.

Tuesday---Unit 17 Lesson 4: sight word many

Class will review the spellings and sounds for the ending blends: -ld,-lp,-lk, and –lt.

Class will also review these blends by reading the words and sentences on the following worksheets: 17-37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47, 49, 51.

Teacher will place the story, “A Duck’s Lunch” under the document camera and students will practice reading and discussing the story a couple of times with choral and popcorn reading. Then students will complete a short comprehension quiz over the story.

Teacher will display the sight words many or any and ask how are these 2 red words alike? –a-n-y

Teacher will draw a line under the parts that are alike (any) on the board.

Teacher will display the sentence containing the word any on worksheet 17-

55 under the document camera. Teacher and students will read the sentence out loud.

Students will tap letter names out on arm.

Teacher will place worksheet 17-59 under the document camera and students will practice reading sentences on this worksheet, using finger spelling if needed for phonetic words and arm tapping for sight words if needed.

Teacher will place the story, “With Any Luck” under the document camera and students will practice reading and discussing the story a couple of times,

using finger spelling for phonetic words and arm tapping for sight words if needed. This story will be sent home for reading homework.

Wednesday---Unit 17 Lesson 4: sight words many and any

Class will review the spellings and sounds for the ending blends: -ld,-lp,-lk, and –lt.

Class will also review these blends by reading the words and sentences on the following worksheets: 17-37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47, 49, 51.

Teacher will place the story, “With Any Luck” under the document camera and students will practice reading and discussing the story a couple of times with choral and popcorn reading. Then students will complete a short comprehension quiz over the story.

Teacher will display the sight words many or any and ask how are these 2 red words alike? –a-n-y

Teacher will draw a line under the parts that are alike (any) on the board.

Teacher will display the sentence containing the word any on worksheet 17-

55 and the word many on worksheet 17-61 under the document camera.

Class will review the spellings and sounds for the ending blends: -ld,-lp,-lk, and –lt.

Class will also review these blends by reading the words and sentences on the following worksheets: 17-37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47, 49, 51.

Class will review the sight words any and many by reading worksheets 17-

55, 17-59, and 17-61 under the document camera.

Teacher will place the story, “Many Things” under the document camera and students will practice reading and discussing the story a couple of times, using choral and popcorn reading. Then students will complete a short comprehension quiz over the story.

In this lesson you will learn 3 more ending blends. Teacher will write these blends on the board : -ft, -ct, -pt. Students will practice the say it with me, saying dash followed by letter sounds and blended sound for each. Class will skywrite each blend 3 times.

Teacher will place the following words on the board and students will practice finger blending and tap and sweep words: soft, kept, act.

Teacher will also place the following worksheets under the document camera and students will practice reading words and sentences: -ft words

(worksheet 17-67), sentences containing –ft words (worksheet 17-69), -pt words (worksheet 17-71), sentences containing –pt words (worksheet 17-

73), -ct words (worksheet 17-75), and sentences containing –ct words

(worksheet 17-77).

Students will write the –ct, -pt, and –ft words from worksheets 17-67, 17-71, and 17-75 on notebook paper and practice reading for homework.

Teacher will also place worksheet 17-79 under the document camera and students will practice reading words and sentences a couple of times.

Teacher will also place story, “A Picnic on a Raft” under the document camera and students will practice reading the story a couple of times, using finger spelling for phonetic words and arm tapping for sight words if needed.

This story will also be sent home for reading homework.

Friday---Unit 17B Assessment

Class will practice –ct, -ft, and –pt ending blends by rereading the following worksheets that teacher will place under the document camera using choral and popcorn reading: 17-67, 17-69, 17-71, 17-73, 17-75, 17-77, 17-79.

Teacher will place the story, “A Picnic on a Raft” under the document camera and students will practice reading and discussing the story a couple of times using choral and popcorn reading. Then students will complete a short comprehension quiz over the story.

Students will complete a spelling assessment over the following words: held, gulp, milk, melt, soft, lift, act, insect, any, many

Students will also complete Unit 17B Assessment.
