SKYLAND CONFERENCE ICE HOCKEY GAME DAY PROTOCOL The following routine represents the pre-game protocol to be followed by players, coaches and officials for games involving teams in the Skyland Conference: START OF SCHEDULED ICE TIME Officials arrive on the ice before the teams. The officials give the signal to the game timekeeper to sound the horn and set the clock for warm-ups. Period of 8 minutes is set by timekeeper for uninterrupted warm-ups When warm-up period (8 minutes) is complete the officials will meet with captains. The remaining players pick up warm-up practice pucks from the ice. Clock is set for 15 minutes for the start of the first period. INTERMISSION PROCEDURES Ice cutting intermission (between first and second periods): After ice is resurfaced, the officials will instruct the timekeeper to put 1:00 minute on the clock and sound the horn to alert players and coaches to return to the ice. At 0:00 the horn sounds and starting line-ups should be on the ice for the opening face-off and the clock is set for 15 minutes for the start of the final period Non-ice cutting intermission (between second and third periods): After teams have left the ice the timekeeper sets the clock for 5 minutes. At 1:00 the timekeeper sounds the horn to alert players and coaches to return to the ice. At 0:00 the horn sounds and starting line-ups should be on the ice for the opening face-off and the clock is set for 15 minutes for the start of the second period Note: Prior to the arrival of teams the officials should review the above procedures with the game timekeeper and, in addition, the officials should check the ice surface, goals/nets and boards Revised 3-8-10
