Alberta Winter Games Head Coach Application Ringette Alberta is now accepting applications for the Head Coach positions for the 2016 Alberta Winter Games (AWG) in Medicine Hat, AB, from February 13-16, 2016. The Alberta Winter Games represent the highest level of amateur athletic multi-sport competition in Alberta. The Head Coach will be responsible for leading the AWG program within the parameters set out by Ringette Alberta and their respective Zone. The Alberta Winter Games coaching staff provide U17 athletes with the opportunity to compete at the highest possible level. This age category is aligned to the “Train to Compete” phase of the Long Term Athlete Development model. The team selection process is designed to expose as many athletes as possible to the development opportunities afforded. Ringette Alberta anticipates a highly successful Alberta Winter Games program and we encourage all interested candidates to submit an application. QUALIFICATIONS Experience coaching high performance athletes in a competitive environment Proven ability to work in a team setting, providing leadership and guidance Ability to work cooperatively with assistant coaches in order to effectively maximize their strengths Consistent and fair coaching practices Knowledge of effective and ethical player evaluation and selection process Ability to plan and conduct on-ice sessions for a team at the U17AA level Ability to prepare a team for a short term competition and coach a team in this environment GENERAL DUTIES Act as a liaison between the Ringette Alberta, the zones and each association team Maximize development opportunities for all athletes, coaches, officials and administrators throughout the process.
