[6] DEPARTMENT OF INSTRUMENTATION & CONTROL ENGINEERING The Instrumentation and Control Engineering Department is headed by Prof.-----------------------------.The department has an experienced and dedicated faculty of professors, assistant professors and lecturers, each specializing in particular subject. The department has well equipped laboratories for subjects like Distributed Control Systems ,Process Control, Analytical instrumentation ,Linear Technology, Biomedical Instrumentation, Computers ,Digital Signal Processing and so on. Recently, the department has installed a Silicon Graphics workstation working on IRIX OS version 5.3 and Fisher-Rosemount DCS on the delta V system and DSP trainers working Samsung DSP processors. It has also purchased biomedical and analytical equipment as a part of its drive to offer quality Masters degree in Biomedical and Process Instrumentation. This academic year, the department has received the following grants : Rs.500,000 from the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for development of various biomedical equipments. Rs.2,500,000 from Emerson Process for DCS. Rs.600,000 from the AICTE for a “Computer Based Trainer for Process Equipment” Rs.1,100,000 from the Govt.of India Dept. of Science and Technology (DST) for the development of SMART transmitters. In order to bridge the gap between the curriculum and ever changing face of the industry, the department has constituted an Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) consisting of 9 professionals from various industries alongwith some faculty members from the department.
