training techniques.
Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic: Outpatient psychotherapy with
children/adolescents presenting with anxiety, mood, and disruptive behavior
disorders. Utilized cognitive behavioral therapy and parent training techniques.
Pediatric Primary Care: Conducted interviews with adolescents and their parents,
made rounds with pediatrician, and consulted to families about psychological issues.
Cancer Center: Completed consults with adults currently receiving cancer treatment
and their families about psychological and adjustment issues.
Consultation/Liaison Service: Psychiatric consultations with adult and child medical
patients during a three-month, full time rotation at a 1,000 bed academic medical
center. Patients seen for referral questions including mood and anxiety disorders,
psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, trauma, neurocognitive disorders,
delirium, and suicide attempts and/or ideation.
Disordered Eating Center of Charleston: Outpatient psychotherapy for adolescents.
Utilized cognitive behavioral therapy, family-based therapy, and dialectical behavior
therapy techniques. Worked within a multidisciplinary team including a physician,
psychiatrist, and dietitian. Conducted behavioral and neuropsychological follow-up
assessments to assess patient’s cognitive flexibility, and presented clinical research at
regional and national conferences.
Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Unit: Participated in full time rotation at 22-bed adult
psychiatric teaching unit. Attended grand rounds and clinical psychiatry seminar, cofacilitated daily group therapy sessions, met with patients for individual therapy
sessions to discuss coping skills, and took ED evening calls with residents to assist in
the clinical evaluation and discharge planning of patients.
Graduate Medical Education: Participated in and observed meetings, lectures, and
workshops aimed at designing programs and education for faculty and residents
within medical residency training. Co-facilitated presentations for residents and
faculty.
Psychological Assessment Service: Conducted cognitive and neuropsychological
assessments of children and adolescents presenting with a range of referral concerns
(e.g., ADHD, learning disabilities), which culminated in a written report and verbal
feedback to patients and their families.
Sleep Medicine: Participated in therapy sessions applying empirically supported
psychological interventions to sleep disordered patients. Gained exposure to
polysomnography in sleep testing.
