DON'T THROW AWAY
TORNADO-DAMAGED
HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS!
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Oklahoma
Department Of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) want to make it easy for you to
dispose of TORNADO-DAMAGED household chemicals safely.
Tornado-damaged household chemicals, improperly handled, may pose a
threat to your safety and well-being. In addition, household chemicals
improperly disposed of can contribute to groundwater contamination and
adversely affect sewage treatment plants by destroying organisms critical to
the treatment process.
Household chemicals that may pose a threat to you can be easily identified by
several key container warning labels, which include, for example:
DANGER • CAUTION • POISON • WARNING • FLAMMABLE •
TOXIC • HAZARDOUS •
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
Household chemicals can be found within most kitchens, bathrooms, utility
rooms, sheds, and garages. These might include:
AEROSOL CANS • KITCHEN CLEANERS •
AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCT • PAINTS, STAINS, VARNISHES •
CAUSTIC CLEANING COMPOUNDS • FERTILIZERS • PESTICIDES •
TOILET AND SINK CLEANERS • ANY FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
We have set up collection locations around the Oklahoma City area. At each
location, representatives will accept and properly dispose of tornado-damaged
household chemicals. Please transport your tornado-damaged household
chemical waste to one of the locations on the back of this page.
