Performed at competitions and football games every weekend during the season. Fixed many awful drill problems and helped other members improve their music and marching technique. Helped the band to its very first TOB Chapter 9 Championship win in history and to continual improvement up the Top 10 at the TOB Atlantic Coast Championships. Cab Calloway Indoor Colorguard (2009-present) Performed nearly every weekend in February, March, and April in a highly competitive indoor colorguard. Practiced six hours each week beginning in November. Set up backdrops before each and every show. Helped the colorguard team to victory in the TIA Chapter 9 Championship each season. Traveled each year to Wildwood, New Jersey, to compete in the TIA All-Chapter Championships. In 2010, the team received 10 th place out of 55+ colorguards. In 2011, the team received a trophy and medals for achieving second place out of 55+ colorguards Clarinet Choir (2010-present) Founding member and current president, found large events or banquets to perform at (past venues include Wilmington University and the University of Delaware), selected and found clarinet quartet music to practice and perform, and determined after-school meeting times. This year I hope to incorporate more concerts for the good of the community into our schedule. These concerts would be at assisted-living facilities or hospitals Gay-Straight Alliance (2011-present) Founder and current president, increased membership through flyers and poster board presentations. Organized and ran social events to better establish a friendly, accepting community at the school. Rallied additional community support and awareness through organizing other events, such as the LGBT Day of Silence Science Ambassadors (2009-present) Taught low-performing children math and science every week at Prestige Academy. Helped organize and run a science fair for Highland Elementary School children at the Charter School of Wilmington and assisted administrators in creating Prestige Academy’s Math League team Private Clarinet Study (2006-present) Attended weekly clarinet or alto saxophone lessons at the home of John Mills to perfect solos and improve overall technique World Quest (2010-present) Competed in a four-person team at the University of Delaware after the World Affairs Council of Wilmington canceled the 2009 competition. Attended weekly practices and learned about world issues and their implications. Topics of study include freedom of the press around the world, current events, and global health Yearbook Club (2009-present) Correctly identified students in photographs, proofread rough drafts, and suggested improvements to articles in our yearbook, Expectations. The yearbook is a potential candidate for the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Crown Award and the National Scholastic Press Association Pacemaker Award Marching 97 (2010-present) Marching clarinet player of Lehigh University's Marching 97 marching band. Habitat for Humanity (2008-present) Dedicated a couple Saturdays to building houses for low-income families or volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity store for seven to eight hours at a time. At the build sites, I salvaged nails, hammered nails, iced walkways, and built wooden support frames. Science Olympiad (2007-2009) Helped the team to 1st place at the Delaware State Competition and traveled to the National Competition to compete Math League (2006-2009) Helped team win 2nd place at the Delaware State Invitational Meet. The team earned first or second at all other smaller meets. Scored highly on all Math League press activities
