Samoa’s planning document1 had some actions:

Establish environmental certification (green products) for natural resource extraction within the
private sector for products that are produced according to sustainable standards (e.g. forest
stewardship certification, marine stewardship council and tropical fisheries).

Provide technical, financial and marketing assistance and support for all environmentally
friendly development (such as organic farming).

Promote environmentally sound agricultural practices such as farming systems, Agroforestry
and organic farming.

Develop new and expand existing markets for local species/varieties and diversity rich products.
Samoa2 reported on the progress regarding certain measures.


covering 2,286 ha; 10 more in process of obtaining certification with a Women-in-Business Inc
initiative (MoA, 2005)
