Carol Benson Scholarship ...........................................................................................$200
Scholarship available for student majoring in liberal arts field. Preferably with the
intention of becoming a teacher and plans on attending a 2 or 4-year college. Must have
at least a 3.0 GPA
Caralun-Nuelle Memorial Scholarship (American Legion). Notebook Computer & $2,000
Scholarship for student planning to attend a college, university or community college in
any course of study.
Edwin S Bulen Scholarship..............................................................................$2,000/TBA
Scholarship awarded to a student who has a minimum GPA of 3.5, a good attendance
record, shows evidence of financial need, and will be enrolled at a 4-year accredited
college in the fall following graduation
Dr. David Cloyd Memorial Scholarship ......................................................................$500
Award for a student demonstrating high achievement, 3.00 GPA, good citizenship, and
potential for success at a 4-year college. Scholarship is merit based.
Escondido High School Ag Boosters Scholarship ......................................................TBA
Awarded to a male or female student with a 2.5 GPA or better. To be used at a 2 or
4-year college or vocational school, must be a current member of EHS FFA and a
graduating senior.
Escondido High School Principal’s Award …............................................................$100
Award for Escondido High School student planning to continue study in an academic or
vocational field.
Escondido Sand & Gravel/Escondido Disposal Scholarship ..................................$1,000
Award to students who have a desire to succeed, but may not have had the opportunity
due to family commitments. Must attend Escondido, Orange Glen or San Pasqual High
Schools. No minimum GPA. Must have financial need. May be used to attend
vocational/trade school, 2 or 4-year college or university.

Renewable scholarship for Escondido High student planning to major in agriculture at a
4-year college, minimum GPA 2.0.

Koho-Mendiola Aquatic Scholarship ..........................................................................$300
Scholarship available to male/female water polo/swimming athlete. Must have financial
need, be a team leader, and recognized as a valuable player on the team. Other
considerations are number of related sports and years played.
Rope-Barber Family Scholarship............................................................................... .$500
Applicant should demonstrate an aptitude for science and/or interest in and willingness to
help people in a health related occupation.
Lomax and Mary Smith Scholarship ........................................................................$1000
Award for a student planning to pursue a career in education.

Open to EHS student who plans to major in English and become an English teacher.
Financial need a must. Scholarship can be used at a 2 or 4-year college.

Scholarships available to Latino students with financial need, scholastic abilities and
community contributions.

Scholarships are available to Escondido High School graduates who are planning to
attend a 2 or 4-year college, university or vocational/training school, and are involved in
their community.
Cougar Athletic Club Scholarship .............................................................................TBA
An award for varsity athletes planning to continue their education at a community college
pursuing an academic or vocational interest.
C.S.E.A. Chapter 219 (EUHSD)..............................................................................TBA
Awarded to children of classified employees of the EUHSD who belong to CSEA and
plan to attend an accredited college as a full-time student in the fall after graduation.
Based on citizenship, need, scholastic average appropriate to student’s plans for further
education and attendance.
Escondido Emblem Club Scholarship........................................................................$500
Available to a graduating senior planning to attending college; minimum 3.0 GPA.
Escondido High School Athletic Booster Club Scholarship................................2/$500
Scholarships awarded annually to male and female athletes at EHS. Minimum GPA 2.8.
Escondido Public Safety scholarship ...........................................................$1000
Scholarship available to graduating college-bound seniors in the Escondido Union High
school district. Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and have good citizenship.
Escondido Rotary Club Scholarship ...............................................................$400-$2,000
Awarded to student based on special application. Selection made by Rotary scholarship
committee. Community service, financial need, graduation senior in the Escondido Union
High School District.
Escondido Secondary Teachers Association ...............................................................$500
Awarded to student who is a relative of an active member of the Escondido Secondary
Teacher’s Association.

Awarded to students based on academic record, extracurricular activities, and financial
need. Two nominees per high school may be submitted.
Jack Thoreson Memorial Athletic Scholarship..................................................$1,000
Scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior from EHS. This senior must have
displayed themselves as an athletic talent of significant impact during the course of their
years at EHS. It is the intent of the Thoreson Family to give financial to a deserving
student so that they may continue their studies and participate in collegiate athletics at
the junior/community college, or university of their choice.

Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA)................$2,000
One or more scholarships of up to $2,000 per year, renewable annually for a maximum
award of $8,000 over four years are available. Available to San Diego County students
majoring in science, math or engineering curriculum at 4-year, degree granting
universities anywhere in the United States.
Athena- UCSD Connect Scholarship........................................................................$1,000
Scholarship available to female going to a 4-year college and majoring in science, math,
engineering or computer science.
Cal RTA (CA Retired Teacher’s Association) ...................................................................$1000$1500
The applicant must be a planning to attend a Nroth San Diego County Community
College or California State University San Marcos. Applicant must have a goal of earning
a degree in the field of education.
Change of Life Foundation..............................................................................$5,000
Scholarships are available for students from an economically disadvantaged background.
Scholarships are meant to assist students who excel academically to attend the
University/College of their choice.

Awarded to graduating senior students with community service record as well as good
citizenship.

Convair Alumni Association Scholarship Fund ...................... …….…......$2,000-$4,000
Leadership potential, community service and academic achievement are the basis of
selection for this scholarship. Applicant must be planning to enter an accredited
college/university in the fall semester following their senior year and must be a direct
descendant (natural or adopted) of former employees of Consolidated Aircraft
Corporation, Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation or General Dynamics, and who
worked in the San Diego area.

Awarded to an outstanding 4H or FFA student who has participated in the Del Mar Fair.

EAA is looking for seniors from Escondido who has an interest in the art field and would
use the scholarship to further his/her education
Hidden Valley Kiwanis Youth Scholarship………………………………………$500
Applicants must graduate with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and plan to attend a four year
university, community college or trade school beginning no later than September 2012.
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Scholarship ...................................................................$500
Award available to all students who demonstrate financial need and have high academic
performance (3.8 GPA). School and community involvement and an essay on the
“Meaning of Nonviolence”.

Awarded to Catholic student of Italian ancestry who demonstrates financial need and has

Lincoln Elementary School Alumni Scholarship........................................................TBA
Available to students who attended Lincoln Elementary school and can express how they
have set academic goals for themselves and what message they would give to elementary
students on preparing for their academic success.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Educational Grant……………………………......$500 - $3,500
The MLKCCSD established the Visual & Performing Arts Educational Grants to support
graduating high school seniors who will be majoring in the areas of visual and
performing arts.
MTS/Coca Cola Scholarship….Computers and a Commemorative Plaque………....TBA
Applicants must be San Diego County high school seniors graduating in spring and who
will be attending an accredited college.
National Academy of Television, Arts and Science..........................................$500-$3000
Scholarships available to college bound high school seniors attending school in San
Diego, Bakersfiedl, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Santa Maria
California and Las Vegas, Nevada who are pursuing a career in Television-Arts sectors.
National Association of Women in Construction.................................................2/$1,000
1.Scholarship available to male/female student pursuing college degree and has parent
employed in the San Diego construction industry.
2. A female student pursuing a college degree in construction-related profession such as
architecture, engineering or construction management.
North County Building Industry Association Scholarship ........................................TBA
Available to students planning to attend a 2 or 4-year college/university/trade school, that
is interested in pursuing a career in the building industry.
Patio Playhouse Community Theater Scholarship………………………………$200-$1000
Applicants must be a senior enrolled in a high school in Escondido, have participated in a
high school or community theater asts program, plan to attend an institution of higher
learning and have a declared emphasis in the performing arts or theather.
R. B. Chorale Scholarship ...........................................................................................TBA
Awarded to student with talent in voice, piano, string or reed instrument. Must be
planning to study in one of the above areas at a college or conservatory. Audition may be
required.
Resource Conservation District of San Diego Scholarship........................................$500
Three to five scholarships available to students with at least a 2.5 GPA who plan to enroll
in an undergraduate college curriculum related to conservation or agriculture.
San Diego Association of Black Journalists………………….…….….....$500 - $50,000
Seniors attending San Diego area high schools planning to major in print or broadcast
journalism, English or Mass Communications are eligible to apply. Additionally,
applicants must be U.S. citizens and show financial need. Applicants must be planning to
attend a university or college and be able to detail in writing how they plan to make sure
the African-American voice is heard in the mainstream media.

San Diego Citizen’s Foundation Scholarship.............................................................TBA
Awarded to student who has been a resident of San Diego County for a minimum of one
year and plans to attend a San Diego County college or university. Student must have a
good citizenship record, and demonstrate financial need. Personal interview required.

Taiwanese American Foundation.............................................................................$1,000
Selection of recipients will be based on the merit of scholastic achievement, academic
honors, SAT scores, leadership/community service, and a one-page essay. The title of the
essay “How to promote racial harmony in our society”. A minimum GPA 3.2 is required.
UNICO Italian Association Scholarship .....................................................................TBA
Open to high school students intending to go to college/university. Minimum 25% Italian
ancestry, minimum 3.0 GPA.
In addition to this local scholarship, UNICO is offering four (4) National

Women Marines Association, Edith Macias Vann Chapter CA-7 Scholarship .....3/$300
Student must have demonstrated dependability, leadership and service in the home,
school and community. GPA 3.5 or above required. Must be a 2012 graduate of a North
County San Diego High School.
