International Education Week November 17-21, 2003 The Stone Center for Latin American Studies and the Latin American Resource Center are proud to support International Education Week at Tulane University. Movie Night - Whale Rider (New Zealand, 2003) Monday, November 17, 3 PM, LA 140, University of New Orleans Directed by Niki Caro, Whale Ride is a contemporary story of love, rejection and triumph as a young Maori girl fights to fulfill a destiny her grandfather refuses to recognize Capoeira Performance and Lecture Tuesday, November 18, 7PM, Dixon Recital Hall, Tulane University Local Capoeira expert, Curtis Pierre, will give a lecture and slide show on the history of Capoeira Angola, followed by a performance of this Brazilian martial art/dance. This film, starring Jimmy Cliff, tells the tale of a raising reggae singer and his fate at the hands of greedy record producers.
