Workshop Possibilities
The Psychological Services Center can work with your group to put together workshops on a
variety of different issues. For example:
BREAKING FREE OF TEST ANXIETY
 Do you struggle with:
o Excessive worry whenever a professor schedules a test?
o Inability to focus on the questions on a test?
o Finding that your mind goes blank and forgetting what you studied?
o Panic attacks as result of worry over testing?
 If the answer is “Yes,” we can help.
o Workshops will introduce students to evidence-based cognitive behavioral
therapy techniques designed to reduce anxiety, including:
 Psychoeducation on emotion (i.e. anxiety)
 Exposure and response prevention
 Cognitive Restructuring
 Diaphragmatic breathing
 Mindful attention
ENJOYING YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE: Overcoming Stage Fright & Performance Anxiety
 Do you struggle with feeling anxious:
o When a professor assigns a required in-class presentation?
o For days before you take the stage?
o Before a big game?
o About forgetting a line?
o Playing the wrong noe?
o Striking out?
o Dropping a pass?
 If the answer is “Yes,” we can help.
o Workshops will introduce students to evidence-based cognitive behavior
therapy techniques designed to reduce performance anxiety including:
 Psychoeducation on anxiety and the cycles that maintain it
 Exposure and response prevention
 Mindfulness
 Goal Setting
LETTING GO OF YOUR WORRIES, GETTING INTO YOUR LIFE
 Do you struggle with:
o Are you consumed with worry?
o Do you worry about one thing and then another and then yet another thing?
o Does your worry keep you awake at night?
o Do you plan for hours to eliminate the chance of something going wrong?
 If the answer is “Yes,” we can help.
o Workshops will introduce students to MINDFULNESS, a technique for
becoming less self-critical and more centered in the present. You will learn:
 Psychoeducation about mindfulness
 Introduction to major skills of mindfulness
 Relaxation and Imagery techniques
 To focus attention in stressful situations
 How to incorporate mindfulness techniques throughout your day
