JP Stevens College Fair - October 13th, 6:30 pm Parent-Teacher Conferences – December 7th The Foundation for Individual rights in Education (FIRE) will award $5,000 to the best essay submitted. FIRE is sponsoring an essay-writing scholarship about how American universities betray the purpose of a university and violate the constitutional guarantees of free expression as depicted in two documentaries found at thefire.org/multimedia. High school seniors are encouraged to submit an essay which can be found at www.thefire.org/contests. The deadline is November 5. If you are a high school senior who is a US citizen, you can apply for the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship 2012 for up to $60,000. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial aid. Apply by December 2 at www.elks.org/enf/scholars. Students interested in Emory University’s Emory Scholars and Goizueta Scholars programs must see Mrs. Catalfamo in the Counseling Office to request to be nominated. Our school can nominate up to four students for the Emory Scholars and one student for Goizueta Scholars. All nominees are required to respond to a Scholars-specific essay prompt and submit a letter of recommendation. All parts of the application must be submitted by November 15. To be automatically considered for academic scholarships at Indiana University at Bloomington, students must submit complete applications by November 1. Smith College is hosting their annual Women of Distinction program on November 11-13, 2011. This is a program for high school seniors that highlights the opportunities at Smith for African American, Latina, Asian American, and Native American students. New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants is offering scholarships ranging from $6,500 to $8,500 to seniors interested in a career in accounting.
