Experiences and Debunking
Night 1 Personal Experiences:
1 North- Andrew and Justin hear loud sounds coming from down the hallway, including banging and
possible footsteps. They also heard a door slam right near them, but couldn’t find the door that had
slammed.
Andrew and A.J. hear a whistle while walking by the Nurse’s Station.
Cafeteria- Multiple team members experienced hearing footsteps in this area, faint voices and whispers,
as well as the loading dock metal door rattling.
Andrew and Leanne hear high heel footsteps coming from the hallway just outside the cafeteria.
A.J. and Sammy hear a man’s voice in response to a question of Did you used to dance in here
and they also get a spike on the EMF detector at about the same time. They also heard footsteps and
voices coming from the kitchen area of the cafeteria.
Old Boiler Room- A couple teams heard a loud booming sound sort coming from all around them.
2 East- Andrew and Leanne are in the hallway down near two east and see a figure of an arm with a dark
shirt going down towards Jeffrey’s Room.
3rd Floor- Loud sounds were heard by multiple teams including a door slamming, and a couple of
footsteps.
Debunking/ Alternative possibilities to paranormal:
-The rain and wind can create loud rattling sounds on the metal door in the cafeteria/kitchen area.
-Rain drops can be sometimes confused as whispers or voices from leaking parts of the building
-Certain doors in the building have the tendency to sway and close by wind which can sometimes be
perceived as paranormal.
-Light play from cars and houses on the clear walls of the atrium can create illusions of shadows that
may be thought of as paranormal.
-Paint chips falling from the ceiling and walls can create a loud sound that may be perceieved as
paranormal.
-Mice and rats can run by cameras and investigators making them believe they may have seen or heard
something paranormal.
-Open stairwell doors can create interfloor contamination which may make witness’ believe they are
hearing something paranormal when in fact it is coming from another floor.
-The railing where Mary fell down the stairs rattles when you walk up and down the steps or hold onto
it, sometimes creating the illusion of a paranormal event.
-The door leading to the basement has the tendency to not shut all the way or get stuck, which can
create the false notion that the door is starting to close or open by itself.
Night 2 Personal Experiences:
1st floor by Chapel- Andrew and Erica hear a womens voice faintly saying something in the physical
therapy room.
Basement- Haley sees a shadow figure of a person in the boiler room of the basement duck down by the
doorway to the back basement stairwell. A.J. then sees the head of the shadow figure poke around
shortly after.
Haley, A.J. and Sarah hear a man’s voice say “yeah” in response to a question about the Steelers.
2nd Floor General Area- Multiple teams heard banging sounds and footsteps with Jay and Candy,
especially in 2 East.
2 East- Andrew and Sammy were setting up a camera during the daytime when they started hearing
loud footsteps in one of the rooms in 2 East.
Cafeteria- Andrew hears faint talking during a session with Sarah, Jay and Candy.
3rd Floor- A door was heard slamming shut during a daytime session by Justin T, Leanne, and Chelsea.
A.J. felt as though he was touched on the leg in the room where the man committed suicide
through the front window.
Empirical Evidence
Video Evidence:
None
Audio Evidence:
Basement- We captured the voice that Haley, Sarah and A.J. thought they heard responding to a
question, possibly saying “yeah”.
1 North- We caught lots of loud sounds including a door slamming while no one was around
2 East- We caught what sounds like a a wheelchair squeaking down the hallway, as well as other loud
sounds while no one was near the area.
Cafeteria- We caught female voices being heard by Andrew and Leanne right before they heard the high
heel footsteps (which unfortunately we didn’t hear well on the recorder).
Photo Evidence:
None
Conclusion and Classification
Summary and Opinion:
Hill View Manor is probably one of the most fascinating and active places that ODGH has ever
investigated. With its incredible history and activity the place most certainly lived up to its reputation as
being very haunted. There were two main visual experiences from our two night investigation. The first
was during the first night when Andrew and Leanne actually saw what looked like an dark blue/black
shirt with an arm go down 2 East while in the connecting main hallway after hearing what sounded like
high heel footsteps walking down that way. The second major experience was the shadow figure that
Haley and A.J. saw in the basement boiler room near the back stairwell on the second night of
investigating. With these tremendous experiences as well as many other sounds of doors slamming,
footsteps, and voices the team was certainly busy! In addition to the great experiences of the two
nights, we also caught some great EVP’s from the audio! It’s hard to deny that Hill View Manor is indeed
haunted. A special thanks goes out to Candy and Jay who stayed up with us through both of the long
cold nights! We had an incredible time and we cannot wait to return to this active place in the future.
Classification:
Level 4-Haunted
