WORK STUDY GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS

Work Study is a federally funded program that enables NICC to hire students part-time
(up to 20 hours per week) for positions on or off campus.

The hourly wage for a work study position is $7.25. Students are paid once every two
weeks.

The Financial Aid Office is the department responsible for the administration of work
study employment at NICC.

To apply for a work study position, you need to have completed a FAFSA (Free
Application For Student Aid) and have received an award letter from our office. The
results of your FAFSA determines what work study fund you will be eligible for.

Work study job openings are posted below. Once you have found a work study position
you are interested in, call to set up an interview with the supervisor listed on the job
posting.

You need to print out and complete the Work Study Application and take it with you to
your interview. The Financial Aid Office will be notified by the supervisor if you are hired
for this position and will contact you to come to the office and complete the necessary
payroll forms for the Human Resources Office so you can be paid.

Always report for work as scheduled and be on time. Contact your supervisor ahead of
time if you will be absent or are running late. Create interest in your job. Complete all
work to the best of your ability and ask questions if you do not understand an
assignment. Use your time wisely and avoid socializing. Be courteous at all times to
your supervisor, your co-workers, and the public. Dress appropriately. If you have any
work related problems, discuss them with your supervisor.
Job Listings
Kitchen /Cafeteria Assistant
Student Center
Job Duties: Assist in food preparation and set up/tear down. Assist in serving lunch specials,
dishwasher area and cleaning of kitchen area. Help with preparing and delivery of catered
items.
Job Skills: Previous food experience preferred, but not required
Hours: Several shifts available need 2 workers minimum per shift. Monday – Friday , Can work
a Tues/Thurs or Mon/Wed depending on your academic schedule. Willing to work with students
around their schedule. Between the hours of 9:00am – 2:30pm.

Teacher Associate
Child Development Center
Job Duties: Reliable person to assist in day to day care of children ages of 6 weeks to 12
years of age. Must be able to communicate important information both verbally and written
between staff, parents and children. Must be able to work as a team to provide care to children
in classrooms.
Job Skills: Early childhood background preferred; experience with children a must. Must
complete paperwork and trainings required for DHS licensing; universal precautions, mandatory
abuse reporting, TB test, and CPR and First Aid.
Hours: Need workers between the hours of 7:30am to 5:30p.m.
