Overview We are looking for a senior level insurance leader who will be responsible for delivering results through the development and execution of the Insurance Solutions strategy for Canada. This role owns the timely development and excellent execution of the strategic business plan for the marketing and growth of Insurance solutions for Canada, and the corresponding results. The Head of Insurance will be a member of the Product and Services senior leadership team. One of the key objectives of this role is insurance growth in Canada, delivered through helping our branches continue the transition from a product focused investment business to an integrated, planning based and client needs focused business incorporating insurance solutions to help our advisors deepen client relationships and meet client needs. Key Responsibilities Lead the Insurance Marketing department and the field-based Insurance specialist team to achieve results through: Increased breadth and depth of insurance solutions offered by our financial advisors in our branches to deepen client relationships. Collaboration and greater awareness and support from all related departments for ensuring insurance solutions are part of a consistent, deliberate and repeatable branch solutions and planning process. Developing and achieving the Insurance department annual business plan objectives. Providing strong leadership to the Insurance Specialist leader, the field-based Insurance specialist team and associates in the Insurance Marketing department. Nurturing strong relationships with the firm's insurance product partners and aligning marketing activities both internally and externally to educate the specialist team and branch teams to promote the offering of insurance solutions. Collaborating with the Product Review department and insurance carriers to review and recommend new products and or new product partners to meet current or evolving client needs. Enhancing the branch experience for insurance by streamlining of processes both at the branch and back office in collaboration with related departments in Operations and Service so as to simplify/automate the application and reporting process for pending applications and inforce policies, and to ensure timely insurance reviews with clients. Partnering with industry organizations (e.g. CLIEDIS) to provide input from firm leadership to accelerate technology strides in the Canadian insurance industry. Working collaboratively with the internal departments to increase use of the solutions based approach to address the wealth transfer and protection needs of affluent and business owner clients. As a senior member of the Canadian Client Solutions Group Leadership team, collaborate across other divisions and geographies to collectively serve branch teams and their clients. Skills • Develop recommendations while addressing and balancing potential competing priorities from other product lines and solutions. • Strong problem solving abilities to effectively and quickly address complex and changing business opportunities and challenges. • Sound judgment to quickly prioritize conflicting objectives to make decisions on a wide variety of unique issues across the departments he or she is responsible for. • Leadership of associates to develop priorities and objectives for Insurance solutions. • Work with leaders of similar departments in the US to ensure that best practices are learned, shared and leveraged across the company. • Identify, develop and mentor future leaders of the firm's Canadian Client Solutions Group. Knowledge and Qualifications • 10+ year's insurance industry experience at a senior level with a proven track record of growing responsibility with an insurance carrier, MGA or bank brokerage. • CFP or other industry designation preferred with rich experience in: • Developing and executing strategy • Delivering business results • Exercising sound judgment and decision-making • Responsibility and success in managing complex and interdependent teams in multi-dimensional (matrix) organizations. • Strong knowledge of the insurance industry (both narrowly and broadly defined), its trends and the competitive environment. • Undergraduate degree, with post-secondary degree preferred. • Life and Health licenses required.
