LITTLE THEATRE OFF BROADWAY PROUDLY PRESENTS ITS 2009-2010 SEASON*
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (For Ages 13 and Up)
July 25 to August 16, 2009
Book and Lyrics by Howard Ashman, Music by Alan Menken (Musical)
Based on the film by Roger Corman, screenplay by Charles Griffith
A down-and-out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving
for fresh blood. Soon Audrey II grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in
exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination!
Directed by Lisa Napier-Garcia
Auditions May 31, June 1, 2009 / Cast 5 Men, 4 Women
THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (For All Ages)
September 11 to October 3, 2009
By: Oscar Wilde (Comedy)
Two young gentlemen living in 1890's England have taken to bending the truth in order to put some excitement into their lives. Jack
Worthing has invented a brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to leave his dull country life behind to visit the ravishing
Gwendolyn. Algy Montcrieff decided to take the name 'Earnest' when visiting Worthing's young and beautiful ward, Cecily at the
country manor. Things start to go awry when they end up together in the country and their deceptions are discovered - threatening to
spoil their romantic pursuits.
Directed by Brent Alan Burington
Auditions July 26/27, 2009 / Cast 5 Men, 4 Women
INHERIT THE WIND (For All Ages)
October 30 to November 21, 2009
By: Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee (Drama)
Inherit The Wind opens just after dawn on a July day that "promises to be a scorcher." The story centers around a schoolteacher who is
on trial for teaching evolution—the theory that man evolved from lower primates such as monkeys—in his classroom, a violation of
Tennessee's Butler Law. The lines are already drawn in this sleepy Southern town of Hillsboro, Tennessee. Creationism or evolution?
Religion or science?
Directed by Bob Weesner
Auditions September 13/14, 2009 / Cast 21 Men, 6 Women (2 Boys, 1 girl), and extras
INCORRUPTIBLE (For All Ages)
January 15 to February 6, 2010
By: Michael Hollinger (Comedy)
Welcome to Priseaux, France, c. 1250 A.D.: The river flooded again last week. The chandler's shop just burned to the ground.
Nobody's heard of the wheelbarrow yet. And Ste. Foy, the patron of the local monastery, hasn't worked a miracle in thirteen years. In
other words, the Dark Ages still look pretty dark. All eyes turn to the Pope, whose promised visit will surely encourage other pilgrims
to make the trek and restore the abbey to its former glory. That is, until a rival church claims to possess the relics of Ste. Foy and
"their" bones are working miracles. All seems lost until the destitute monks take a lesson from a larcenous one-eyed minstral, who
teaches them an outrageous new way to pay old debts.
Directed by Mark Sartor
Auditions November8/9, 2009 / Cast 5 Men, 3 Women
LI’L ABNER (For All Ages)
March 5 to March 27, 2010
Book by Norman Panama and Melvin Frank, Lyrics by Johnny Mercer, Music by Gene de Paul (Musical)
Al Capp's world famous characters have been placed in an upbeat musical extravaganza. It is a satisfying mixture of hillbilly nonsense
and sharp, critical humor. Its pure entertainment; a side-splitting extravaganza for all. If I Had My Druthers, Jubilation T. Cornpone,
Namely You, Love in a Home, Progress Is the Root of All Evil, Rag Off'n the Bush and The Country's in the Very Best of Hands will
keep you laughing. The show is laced with gentle satire, rib-tickling humor, and a host of brash, catchy tunes.
Directed by Bob Kile
Auditions January 17/18, 2010/ Cast 6 Men, 6 Women (children and all ages)
OVER THE TAVERN (For Ages 8 and up)
April 23 to May 15, 2010
By: Tom Dudzick (Dramedy)
In that most idealized period of 20th-century America, the Eisenhower years of the 1950s, the Pazinski family has a lot going on in
their cramped Buffalo apartment. The youngest of the bunch, 12-year-old Rudy, is a smart, wise-cracking kid who's starting to question
family values and the Roman Catholic Church. When Rudy goes up against the ruler-wielding Sister Clarissa and announces that
instead of being confirmed he'd rather shop around for a more "fun" religion, all hell breaks loose. A warm and hilarious look at
family, growing up, and God.
Directed by Dan Stanton
Auditions March 7/8, 2010 / Cast 4 Men, 3 Women (12 yr old lead)
