NORTHAMPTON AREA RED ROPE JANUARY + FEBRUARY 2014 WALKS The Northampton area Red Rope socialist walking group have announced two walks at the start of 2014. The first, is on Sunday 19th January, a 5-6 mile circular walk from Maidwell (north of Pitsford reservoir). Meet at 10am in Draughton Crossing car park (take the Draughton Road east from A508 in Maidwell village) GR SP 755 773. This is a moderate walk via Maidwell Dale and Maidwell Wood. At one stage there are fine views looking South from high ground. The second is on Sunday 9th February for 8 miles circular from King’s Cliffe starting at 9.30am from the church in the village, North East of Corby. It takes in Blatherwyke Lake, then past the former site of Fineshade Abbey and on to Top Lodge, a forestry centre for Fineshade Woods. A fine winter time walk. The group is currently planning walks for March and April January 2014.
