PLUNGE FOR PROCEEDS
Don’t forget your local Special Olympics programs can benefit from our Polar Plunge events.
Local programs will receive 20% of the net that their team raises in a polar plunge. Please note that local programs must adhere to the following set of guidelines to participate.
1.
Special Olympics local programs must register their team online and include the program name in the team name, i.e. Gahanna Team So Hot Right Now.
2.
All team members must be registered online and must be on one team.
3.
Plungers may collect pledges online and offline.
4.
he plunge team and members must be organic to the local program, i.e. no recruiting existing teams or previous plungers which have no ties to the local program.

5.
Recruit plungers and raise money for your local program.
6.
The OH/KY plunge is the only plunge exempt from this program.

The new logo and graphics guidelines were sent via a cd to each local program in December.
Attached are the sub program guidelines local programs should start following. If you have

LOCAL FINANCE
The 4 th Quarter 2013 (October – December 2013) local financial report is due into the State
Office by January 25, 2014. It is important we receive the report by the due date so we can close out the fiscal year as quickly as possible. We have over 175 reports to review and consolidate for audit and tax purposes. As always, include all documentation (bank statements, deposit slips, checks, invoices, etc.) to support the activity. Documentation is needed to validate and cross-reference funds raised and spent. A few reminders:

Checks issued for Cash must include a ledger and receipts to back up the amount of cash received.

Mastercard and Visa Statements must be paid in full each month. If possible, attach the
invoices/receipts for the transactions listed.

All checks written for expenses should include a copy of the invoice to back up the check.
A copy of a check doesn’t validate an expense. The invoice/receipt validates the check to be written.

A list of local organizations not yet accredited for 2014 is attached. Please check this list and let us know if you think this is in error. This will be the last 2014 general mailing sent to unaccredited local organizations. If you have forgotten to submit the 2014 accreditation application, contact our office and we will send you the form. Fill it out and send to your Area Director asap. Unaccredited local organizations that submit state basketball rosters will not be divisioned! This divisioning process will not take place till later in the month. So you still have time to submit your paperwork!
