Study programme in information and communication technology (UT)

The aim of the study programme in information and communication technology is to provide
students with a solid, general, basic academic foundation with an emphasis on specialisation in
technological, engineering and computer science fields. The programme prepares students for
further education at the higher education level, particularly in the field of technology,
engineering and computer science. The average duration of study is eight semesters, and the
study programme concludes with a matriculation examination.

Area of specialisation
The area of specialisation incorporates specialisation in technological fields and related
subjects, in accordance with the objective of the programme. Areas of specialisation in the
study programme in information and communication technology are:

The student must choose at least three subjects as area of specialisation subjects, either in
addition to the core subjects, or as new subjects. Total studies in an area of specialisation
and programme core subject must amount to at least nine credit units. Students in the
study programme in business and economics can also take up to 12 credits in the area of
specialisation of other study programmes as part of their area of specialisation, although
there must be at least nine credit units in a given subject.


Electives
Students select 9 credits from the study courses offered at the relevant school. The school
is also authorised to evaluate as electives studies that students have completed in other
schools.
