Job Description – Custodial Staff
2015 – 6 hours per week
Sanctuary
Weekly:
 Vacuum carpets and pews, spot clean spills
 Clean pews (candy, sticky substances, coffee cups, etc.)
 Remove old bulletins and straighten up pew racks
 Replenish visitor/prayer cards
 Dust organ & piano
 Dust window sills
Monthly:
 Dust heating units, planters, plants, ledges, baseboards, pulpit and around mailboxes
 Clean Screens (summer months)
As Needed:
 Wash tops of the pew backs
 Clean little music room and safe room
 Clean lighting around cross (cobwebs, dust)
 Clean and install fans (spring)
 Remove fans (fall)
MAIN ENTRANCE, NORTH ENTRANCE & STAIRWELLS
Weekly:
 Vacuum carpets
 Wash glass doors inside and out. Wipe door frames, closers and sills
 Dust window sills
 Clean drinking fountain
 Sweep outside around main entrance
Monthly:
 Wipe coat racks
 Clean & polish banisters
COFFEE BAR
Weekly:
 Wipe off coffee bar and counter
 Clean sink
 Clean out microwave (as needed)
 Replace paper towels & soap (as needed)
 Vacuum carpets
 Empty trash cans & replace liners (2 cans)
UPSTAIRS BATHROOMS (3)
Weekly:
 Clean toilets, sinks & mirrors
 Wash floors
 Replace toilet paper and paper hand towels
 Replenish soap dispensers
 Empty waste cans & replace liners
NURSERY
Weekly:
 Vacuum
 Wipe down beds & changing table
 Put toys away if left out
 Sanitize toys (monthly)
 Clean sink
 Empty trash can
OFFICES
Weekly:
 Vacuum carpet and chairs
 Clean/dust tables, desks & file cabinets
 Clean sink & counter in office
 Dust window ledges
 Wipe out microwave (if needed)
 Empty waste baskets and replace liners
 Take out recyclables
Monthly:
 Dust blinds
As Needed:
 Dust bookshelves and top of cupboards
DOWNSTAIRS
FELLOWSHIP HALL, WORSHIP CENTER ROOMS, & TOT’S PRAISE (UPSTAIRS)
Weekly (September – May)
 Vacuum carpets
 Empty all waste baskets
 Sanitize light switches, doorknobs, tables and chairs.
 Wash tables in Worship Center rooms
 Dust (as needed)
 Straighten up fellowship hall
 Clean drinking fountain
 Empty trash cans
Monthly:
 Wash coat rack
As needed:
 Dust tops of heater runs
 Clean windows and frames
 Dust top of projection screen
 Set up tables and chairs for church events
During the summer months, spot check the basement meeting rooms. It will all depend
on how often the basement is used.
BASEMENT BATHROOMS
Weekly:
 Clean toilets, sinks, countertops & mirrors
 Clean tops of partitions
 Mop floors (every other week)
 Replace toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap
 Empty trash cans
KITCHEN
 Wash countertops, sinks & stove (every two weeks or after an event)
 Mop floor (monthly or after an event)
AS NEEDED




Clean storage room off of kitchen
Clean storage room under front stairway
Dust & sweep floor in furnace room
Clean storage room across from downstairs bathrooms
CUSTODIAN SUPPLIES – Coordinate supply orders with the office administrator.
ADDITIONAL EVENTS
 Weddings – (Unlock facility before ceremony, make sure bathrooms are clean before
and after, clean sanctuary and make sure it is ready for Sunday worship, during
ceremony - run the soundboard and operate and projection necessary, lock facility
afterward.) $75 Compensation
 Funerals - (Unlock facility before ceremony, make sure bathrooms are clean before
and after, set up tables and chairs in the fellowship hall if necessary, clean sanctuary
and make sure it is ready for Sunday worship, during ceremony - run the soundboard
and operate and projection necessary, lock facility afterward.) $75 Compensation
 Outside Group Events – When necessary, come in after outside group events, spot
check bathrooms and spaces used by the group. Compensation: 1 Additional Hour of
wages.
ACCOUNTABILITY
 The custodian is directly accountable to the Co-Pastors or Lead Pastor and the
property team.
 An annual staff review will be conducted in January
 The custodian will be responsible for reviewing the staff calendar each week so that
events and building use are taken into consideration with the weekly responsibilities.
