Recommendation Letter One
I am writing this recommendation letter for Miss Liu Jing to support her application in your
department for further study, without reservation.
I am a professor in the Polymer Science and Engineering Department in Beijing University of
Chemical Technology, and I got my PH.D degree in the University of Sydney. I got to know Miss
Liu one year ago when she contacted me for research training and I admitted her to join my group

What Miss Liu impressed me most is her remarkably ability of learning new things. Within
one week, she got accustomed to all apparatus in the lab and was able to handle the whole
experiment progress independently including preparing GO and characterizing products. In the
past semester, she did a project about surface functionalized graphene oxide and graphene. After
doing some experiments one week about growing Ag nano-particles on graphehe sheets, she
designed a route by herself to analyze the effect of silver ions and reductants to the reduction
progress. She did a very good work as she combined the previous experiment method into her own
progress.
Miss Liu always shows curiosity to research and eager to learn. Being distinct from my
undergraduate students before, she not only finish experiments listed in her schedule, but also
grasps the opportunity of talking with my PH.D candidate and asks questions prepared before. I
still remember her great passion of preparing nine samples with different synthesis time, in which
the longest time is seven days, in order to understand the mechanism of growing Ag particles. Not
satisfied with the predicted regular relationship between Ag particles’ size and preparing time, she
discovered that the unique location of Ag particles and changing shape of them. I think this
character will made her grow fast on the way of becoming an excellent researcher.
Miss Liu is commendably diligent and warm. Since the day I admitted her joining, she
never missed each research conference in lab. Although pressed by examinations and the
application, she helped my PH.D candidates translate a paper of 5000words within one week and
pointed out every problem she was uncertain.
Based on my acquaintance of Liu, I am appreciated to say Miss Liu is a good researcher. Won
