Pass out mission patches for student to decorate. Students lie on the floor and prepare for lift-off. Tell students that they are going to be blasting off into space. Tell students that during lift-off we were able to see earth from space. Tell students they must know which continent they live in. On chart paper put the 7 continents in ABC order. Point out the continents on a map and a globe. Introduce the 4 oceans. Chart the ocean names on chart paper. Independent Practice: (Sinker) Give students a blank world map worksheet. Have students color and label the map. Students should use a student atlas to help label the continents and oceans. Make sure students color the oceans blue. Modifications/Extensions: Teacher will help students where needed.
