After checking the meaning of the words in your dictionary, use each word in a sentence to show you understand the meaning of the word.

Prepare a dialogue, to be performed with a partner, using as many of the list words as you can.

Write a paragraph or two, using as many words from the list as possible.

7.
With a partner, test each other on the meaning of and the spelling of each word.
8.
Write a word that rhymes with each of the list words.
9.
Write a description of 5 of the words and give your writing to a partner to see if they can guess which words you were describing.
10.
Look, say, cover and write each of the list words.

Competence : The ability to do something successfully or efficiently.
Eg. He had the competence to do well in maths.
Ignorance : Lack of knowledge or information.
Eg. His ignorance was very unacceptable.
Decanter : a stoppered glass container into which wine is decanted.
Eg. My fathers friends came over and poured their drink from our decanter .
Morbid : characterized by or appealing to an abnormal and unhealthy interest in disturbing and unpleasant subjects.
Eg. He had a morbid interest in disease.
Davenport : a large upholstered sofa, typically able to be converted into a bed.
Eg. I had a davenport in my room, during the day it was a sofa and during the night it converted into a bed.
Dissuaded : persuade someone not to take a particular course of action.
Eg. I dissuaded my brother from hitting me.
Incorruptible : not vulnerable to corruption.
Eg. He was incorruptible .
Fortitude : courage in pain or difficulty\
Eg. His fortitude against bullying was good.
Delusion : an individual belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being denied by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument, typically a symptom of mental disorder.
Eg. He had a delusion about religion.
Pertinent : relevant or appropriate to a particular matter.
Eg. He asked me a lot of pertinent questions.
Commiserate : express or feel sympathy or pity.
Eg. He felt commiserate after the death of his father.
Remotely : from a distance; without physical contact.
Eg. He remotely abused the little children.
Motive : a reason for doing something
Eg. He had the motive to do the triathlon.
Authentic : Genuine
Eg. The precious vase was very authentic .
Preceding : come before something in time
Eg. There will be a long preceding in between the show.
