STRATEGIC PLAN FOR 2011
Mission Statement
To be a collective voice of commercial operators within the Crawley Borough Council area and work with Government Agencies, Regulators and Service Providers for the good of all members and the general public.
Objectives
To act as a single point of communication on behalf of all members.
To encourage businesses to work together as a community.
To work with enforcement agencies and regulators to promote, public safety, prevent anti-social behaviour, recover losses from theft and combat retail violence.
To secure commercial advantage for members through collective buying power.
To promote wellbeing and productivity for employees of the members of the scheme.

To access and accredit members of Pubwatch with the Safer Socialising Award
To introduce a Safer Socialising Criteria for public transport
Use technology to promote CGBW (Twitter: CGBusinessWatch)
To improve the scheme further with a digital radio network; which will ensure that the scheme is financially viable, technically future proof and encourage members to get more involved.

To improve Crawley as a location to socialise. Working towards the Purple Flag.
Looking at dispersal issues such as reliable safe and affordable public transport. Safe reasonably priced car parking at night. Toilet facilities open in the evenings.
Publicise the scheme in the local media and look at disseminating this to surrounding areas.
Introducing a proforma incident/statement for to safe time for members and the police.
Work with Crawley College to promote CGBW and reduce incidents committed by students. A hotline number for key members to telephone to report any issues and a regular update to be placed onto the college intranet which is used by students.
Look at the training requirements of members and facilitate them where possible.
To promote Wellbeing Workplace – this includes a Red Nose Boxfit event 15/03/2011
Increase membership to town centre eateries, public transport and retail.
Encourage outer town pubs to promote more family functions.
To work with Community Wardens and Police to assist in dealing with Retail Crime and the Fear of Crime in general.
Hold at least one crime prevention evening per year with members and partners.
Achievements of 2010
Henry Smith MP became the Patron of CGBW – the first in the Country
The criteria was rewritten for the safer socialising award with the assistance of key partners
Three premises accredited safer socialising
Publicity on the scheme throughout 2010 in the Crawley Observer
Conflict Management sessions made available to members
CGBW website was improved and positive feedback from members
Membership increased in all areas.
Crawley Street Pastors are now working with CGBW pubwatch members
Dispersal Questionnaire implemented
Street drinkers issue highlighted on behalf of members

Structure
The Businesswatch Scheme within the Borough of Crawley consists of 3 complimentary parts namely;
Shopwatch
Pubwatch
Travelwatch
Each respective scheme may elect a Chairperson who will be invited to board meetings which will be held at least every three months. In regard to the Pubwatch scheme an inner area and outer area Chairperson may be elected to serve in this role.
The overall management of the three schemes will be provided by a Businesswatch
Chairman who will assist the Busineswatch Scheme Manager in the day to day operation of the said schemes. The Businesswatch Chairman will also provide a report and review of the annual work plan to the Board. Work plans shall be agreed with the Members of Board and the Director of the Company and be reviewed on a regular basis.
