Job Posting for: Senior Food Shelf Coordinator Reports to: Director of Food Programs Status: Part Time, Non-exempt, Monday-Friday 20-27 hours per week Job Summary: Responsible for general office function and procedures. Conducts in-take of current and potential participants, provide leadership for volunteers and part-time staff and insure smooth functioning of food shelf services. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibility includes, but not limited to, the following: 1. Supervision of staff and volunteers. Orient, train and provide ongoing training for those working in the food shelf/delivery and pick-up areas. 2. Writing and typing correspondence, reports, proposals, as assigned by the Department Director. Originates correspondence and documents for review by Department Director. 3. Progress Reports. Assists with program progress report to ESNS, Emergency Food & Shelter Board, MN Food Share Association, Emergency Food Shelf Network, Second Harvest, Hennepin County and other stakeholders. Monitors the timely submission of progress reports. Maintains files of individual and corporate donors and public foundation giving. 4. Record keeping and filing. Maintains files for the Senior Food Shelf of all reports and proposals. Assist in the development of flyers and other public relation materials. Make copies, answer telephones, coordinates deliveries and pick-up of food supplies and other materials and supplies for the Senior Food Shelf. 5. Data Records. Knowledgeable of the operations of EFN client database system and ESNS’ Symphony database; entering of data for regular reporting purposes for senior program areas and generating statistical reports. Maintains food shelf donor records. 6. Food Resources. Places food orders regularly to maintain food shelf stock for effective service based on budget plan. Receive food orders and assure proper count of incoming and outgoing products. Be familiar with the method of distribution. Coordinates on food venture/prospects with the Glendale Food Shelf as requested. 7. Customer service. Complete intake interview with individuals wanting to participate in program while maintaining respect and confidentiality; making referrals as appropriate. Work with a variety of individuals in a cordial and professional manner. 8. Attend all staff meetings and perform other duties in coordination with Senior Program staff, Food Networking sources (MACC, EFN, Second Harvest, March Food Share Campaign). 9. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Education: A minimum of high school/GED education, Certified Food Manager preferred or the ability to obtain the certification. Requirements: Proficiency in verbal and written communications. Experience working with seniors. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally and 40 lbs frequently and have no physical restrictions precluding heavy lifting and bending. Have a valid MN Drivers license. Must be self motivated and able to work cooperatively with others. Must be able speak and read English. Being able to speak Somali or Hmong is helpful. Must be able to relate to people of varied ethnic, cultural backgrounds, ages and economic circumstances with respect and consideration. Must be able to take initiative and be responsible to organize daily work tasks. Must maintain client information confidentiality. Understanding of food safety requirements. Familiarity with computer technology and ability to learn computer skills.
