We highly encourage you to register your child for the trip as it is an enriching educational and social experience. Students and chaperones will depart from Weston Middle School on the morning of October 22nd and return at roughly 6:00 pm on October 23rd. Day One 7:00 am: Depart for Plymouth, MA 7:30 am: Breakfast Day Two Lunch en route (bring bagged lunch from home) 9:00 am: Museum of Science and Boston Ducks Tour 11:00 am: Arrive in Plymouth, MA to tour Plimoth Plantation and Mayflower II. Lunch provided at Museum of Science 2:30 pm Depart for Weston Middle School 2:30 pm: Freedom Trail with tour guides 6:00 pm: Odyssey Dinner Cruise 9:30 pm: Hotel check-in at the Shaeraton Colonial in Wakefield, MA (private security provided) Where will my child be staying? Your child will be staying at the Sheraton Colonial in Wakefield, MA. Will there be overnight security? Private security will be present on each floor in the hotel during the night. Who will chaperone this trip? Teachers from the school will chaperone the trip. The chaperone to student ratio is roughly twelve to one. Parents have been invited to chaperone in the past. You should pack a bagged lunch for your child to eat on the bus while we travel to Plymouth, Massachusetts . All other meals will be provided and are included in the cost of the trip. My child has dietary restrictions - what should I do? The dinner will be a buffet, consisting of a variety of foods from which your child can choose. The following morning’s breakfast will also be a buffet and your child will be receiving a $10 stipend to use to buy lunch in the Museum of Science café. If you have specific concerns regarding the menu, please contact Thomas Ragusa or Colleen Geel. Can a nurse administer medication to my child? Yes, a registered nurse will be on trip and will be administering medication. What if I need to reach my child? Can I call their cellphone? Your child will be allowed to bring their phone on their trip but will be asked to refrain from using it during tours. What should my child pack? Each student is allowed one (1) suitcase and one (1) carry-on bag. Be sure the student's name is on everything. o Clothing: Neat walking shorts are permitted. Halter tops, tube tops, tank tops with narrow or skinny straps, boxer shorts worn as outer wear, baggy athletic shorts, short shorts, short skirts, T-shirts with inappropriate slogans/pictures, and mesh shirts (without shirts underneath) will NOT be permitted. Jeans with rips, holes, or writing are not allowed. o Shoes: Clean, comfortable walking shoes or sneakers. o Outerwear: Lightweight jacket or sweater for cool or rainy days (umbrella optional). o Accessories: Toothbrush, comb, cosmetics, deodorant, other personal hygiene needs. (Towels, washcloth, and soap, as well as Bedding, are provided by the hotel) o Money: No money is required; do not bring more than $50 spending cash; no credit cards. What items are not permitted? Tobacco products, alcohol/drugs, inappropriate reading materials, dangerous objects/toys, including laser pointers, fireworks, matches, lighters, DVD players, gaming consoles and personal computers.
