Jackson Soccer Hat Trick Award Scope This document outlines the key elements of the Jackson Soccer Hat Trick Award Hat Trick Award Chairperson The Chairperson for the award is the 50/50 Raffle Chairperson who must be parent of a Jackson Boys Soccer player, not graduating during the current school year. Funding for the Award Management of the Award funds is controlled by the club treasurer. The funds for the award is derived from the following sources: 50/50 Raffle activities conducted during regular season home games 50/50 Raffle activities conducted during other soccer related activities such as fund raisers, picnics, etc. Proceeds from the Alumni game If funds are insufficient from these sources to pay the award, then a written request to the club officers for additional funding from the general fund must be submitted by the Chairperson prior the solicitation process for the short essays occurs. Number of Awards Three individual Hat Trick awards are distributed during the current school year. No individual can receive more than one Hat Trick Award. It is not mandated that all three awards must be distributed with the current school year. Non-issued Hat Trick Awards may not be carried over into following school years. Amount of Award Each individual Hat Trick award will have a $333 monetary value paid by check authorized by an Officer of the Jackson Boy’s Booster Soccer Club Eligibility Requirements Persons eligible for the Jackson Hat Trick Award is defined as follows: Must attend Jackson High School Member of Current School Year’s Boys Soccer Team Graduating in the Spring of Current School Year Member of the Varsity Team ( not necessary to have lettered) Not the recipient of the Jeff Bates Awards Not the recipient of the Joey Armogida Awards Completion of a Short Essay The eligible applicant is to submit to the attention of the 50/50 Raffle Chairperson, a short essay that demonstrates the following characteristics that the applicant exemplified while playing soccer for Jackson High School. Short Essay Jackson Soccer Hat Trick Award 1. Sportsmanship ( displaying self-control and fair play while on and off the field) 2. Work Ethic (showing hustle during practice and games) 3. Team motivator (encourager, supports teammates, leadership) Guidelines for the short essay length and structure are 150 words or less, double spaced, typed. Selection Committee The 50/50 Raffle Chairperson submits those eligible applicants short essay to the selection committee for consideration. The Selection Committee will consist of the club officers of nongraduating players in good standing with the team and the Chairperson of the Hat Trick Award. The Selection Committee will review and rate each of the submitted essays on a 0-3 point rubric scale for each characteristic demonstrated and award to the Hat Trick to the recipients of the top three scores A solicitation letter is to be sent out during the 3rd 9 weeks of the Solicitation Letter Mailing current school year to those eligible to receive the award. This can be accomplished by either e-mail or post. Solication Process Completion Those interested in the award must submit their short essay by the end of April of the current school year. Recipient Notification Awards to the Hat Trick recipients will be distribute by a Club Officer during the Jackson High School seniors awards night held in the spring. The <<Current School Year xxxxxxxx>> awards recipients will be notified during the Jackson High School seniors awards night held later this spring. Eligibility for the award is simple. Please submit to my attention, a short essay (150 words or less, double spaced, typed) that demonstrate the following characteristics that you exemplified while playing soccer for Jackson High School. 4. A player can only be selected for one Hat Trick Award during their senior year. A player is not eligible for the Hat Trick Award if they are a recipient of either the Jeff Bates or Joey Armogida Awards that will also be presented during the awards night.
