sculptural works, this multi-media exhibition will highlight the careers of both women, while also debuting
their recent work.

Synergy II will run from December 5-January 3, 2015
Kathy Blankley Roman
She is an award winning artist known primarily for her abstract acrylic mixed media
and encaustic paintings. Her preference for an earthy palette reflects a connection felt since her
childhood introduction to the prehistoric cave art of Lascaux. With a background in calligraphy, graphic
design and illustration, her art took a new direction after her retirement in 2010 when she took a course in
expressive nonobjective painting with Steven Aimone. She has also expanded her practice by adding the
ancient technique of encaustic painting to her repertoire. Kathy's paintings have often been described as
feeling ancient yet modern, full of motion, with a sense of calm and depth, which draws the viewer
inward. Since late 2011 Roman's acrylic and encaustic paintings have been shown locally, nationally and
online. She received a "Top Ten Artists Award" 2012 in Abstract Artists Gallery's Annual International
Abstracts Competition online. Her work is represented in the permanent collection of the Encaustic Art
Institute in Cerrillos, NM and she is a Studio Artist at Xanadu Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ. Kathy currently lives
and maintains a studio in Chicago.

Nancy Pirri
Her work is about woman’s struggle to find emotional balance. If one could see the depth and complexity
of a woman plainly on her surface, would we see beauty? Would we see their scars, if we look closely
enough? She lets each woman tell her story through her hands. She is a sculptor that emphasizes the
sense of earthiness and antiquity associated with the medium of clay. Her work epitomizes a woman’s
struggle to find emotional balance and the complex roles that women take on. Born in Brooklyn, NY. Pirri
now resides and works in Chicago.
Morpho Gallery prides itself on seeking talented artists who are on the cusp of being discovered by the
mainstream art community. We invite local artists to exhibit their work in a creative and non-competitive
atmosphere, where artistic experimentation and development are encouraged. By creating a blank palette
inside the gallery, Morpho offers infinite possibilities for an array of colors, textures and media to come
together. As members of the Bowmanville community and the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, we
strive to enliven the area around us as active participants in community development and growth.
